WASHINGTON - There's one thing that's been missing from Sen. Hillary Clinton's 2008 rollout -- her would-be White House spouse, Bill Clinton.
But the New York Daily News has learned that will soon change, with plans for a mega fundraiser next month where top backers will be asked to raise $250,000 apiece.
So far, Bill has stayed out of sight in the campaign, "doing about anything you can imagine in terms of behind-the-scenes help," said one campaign source.
That includes working the phones to line up donors and supporters.
Hillary Clinton's top Democratic rivals, meanwhile, all have trotted out their spouses.
She mentions her man, but did her Jan. 20 announcement and her first two campaign swings as solo acts.
Hillary has a simple explanation.
"I'm running," she said yesterday. "I'm happy to have his help."
Political strategists and analysts say that plain statement reveals a strategic reality.
"It's too early to bring out Bill," said Baruch College political scientist Doug Muzzio. "She's the candidate, she's the one running for president. She's got to establish an independent identity."
Muzzio also noted that Bill Clinton "will be a net plus" for his wife, but comes with a lot of baggage she doesn't want to deal with now.
Hillary Clinton was coy about when Bill will hit the trail, saying, "You'll just have to watch."
But one date is set -- March 18, at the Sheraton New York. Billed as a "celebratory dinner honoring Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton," the bash will be hosted by Bill.
An entry-level ticket -- for which there is "limited availability" -- costs $1,000.
To be sure to get in, you've got to pony up $2,300 for "preferred seating" or $4,600 for "premium seating."
To get "chair" seating, you've got to join the event committee and commit to raising $250,000, which also buys access to a "Thank You Reception" for those pulling in at least $10,000.
Yes. I'm sure he's giving the interns a very warm welcome.
"Yeah, I hit it..."
Having Bill Clinton serve as a reminder of what Hillary will bring to the White House is a 2 edged sword. If anything, Bill is a supreme speaker who can convince rats it's snowing in Miami during a heatwave (or possibly that the open sore isn't anything contagious.) Many people have become immune to his half truths and open deceit, but he still carries "celebrity status" with the rats. They will hail this as "The Return Of The King".

Wife Hillary and daughter Chelsea sent out about 10,000 invitations to Hollywood tycoons, movie stars, captains of industry and Wall Street - with all proceeds to go to the former President's charitable foundation. Those who pledged the top price were promised the 'Birthday Chair Package', with the best seating for the concert as well as a chance to have... |
Surely he doesn't catch. Of course he is going to pitch.
I still say he will upstage her, and he will do it by making it look like he is supporting her.
The question foremost in his mind is, "Will a Hillary presidency help or hurt his legacy?" For the reprobate from Hope, there is no other basis for what he does.
It will be amusing to watch him play meek-n-mild while resisting the urge to hip-check Hillary off the stage.
Bill wants to be in charge of hiring interns.
One of the first questions that should be asked of Hillary is what job she has in mind for Bubba if she gets elected.
I dont believe the problem is that the United States is not ready for a female President.
I believe that Hillary is the wrong female to be that President.
First there is no way to get Hillary without accepting Bill Clinton in a high position in her administration, My guess Ambassador to the UN.
Second she hasnt the disposition to work with others, especially anyone who disagree with her.
Thirdly, Although she has posed as a middle of the line Democrat ,only a fool would think she is anything but a radical liberal.
Fourthly,she has no principles,no morality,no integrity
and lies like a rug.
Nothing like having a known lying, cheating rapist campaign for you.
