It's certainly a primitive airport, with those old Moorish walls and buildings.
Paris? Don't bet on it. Even the French aren't going to let a potential suicide weapon like that enter their airspace.
An airliner of Air Mauritania diverted lands in the Canaries

Police could not confirm the number of passengers on board the Boeing 737.
It was also unknown how many hijackers were involved in the incident.

Maybe a sniper can take the hijacker out and the people be freed. At least its on the ground right now.
An airplane kidnapped in Mauritania lands in Palmas
The apparatus, in that 71 people travel, was turned aside of its route. Mauritania assures that the kidnappers want to arrive at France
MAURITANIA?
LOL! High five to you.
El Pais has revised the passenger count to 87.
Thailand?
Western Sahara and Mauritania are both islamic-controlled countries.
Sometimes HAL 9000 just posts headlines titled, "DAVE!"
Imagine all the white flags waving in the wind in France right now. I'll bet they've got bed sheets tied to trees and everything. After all, jihadists are their friends. It's Bush who's the terrorist, right?
(I hope it's not terrorism, though. Seriously. I hope this ends in a peaceful manner.)
When terrorists hijacked a plane from Algiers in the early nineties, the goal was to blow it up over Paris.
The French GIGN forced them to land in Marseilles and then stormed the plane.
Ain't no way the frogs are gonna let terrorists fly a plane over Paris.
God as my witness, I thought Mauritania was one of those fake countries like Freedonia, used in movies, etc.
