French have attitude problem says New Yorker
Financial Times ^ | February 14 2007 | Joe Perella

Posted on 02/15/2007 12:59:19 PM PST by george76

Paris is less attractive for international financial companies than London partly because of French attitudes to business, according to a leading US investment banker.

“London made it very attractive for people to come there and work there, and I think in France, quite frankly, attitudes exist that cause people to shy away from that part of the world in terms of being a financial centre,” ...

Mr Perella pointed to concerns about “raids” on international companies by the French tax authorities.

“There have been a lot of stories ...of raids into people’s homes and offices to seize their computers to investigate what is going on because these people are making a lot of money.”

“We have a lot of people that are French who don’t want to live there because the taxes are so high.”

Asked about capitalism in France, Mr Perella said: “There is hostility to capitalism all over the world and it seems to be stronger in some places than others.”

He said there was a misunderstanding about wealth that stemmed from when it was “defined by cows and land” and “the only way my wealth could increase is if I took yours away”. But in the modern world “it is possible to create wealth where everyone’s land grows”.

I think France has hurt their image in the world and has thrown away all of the good will they earned.

They need to change their leadership so that everyone will like them.

-sound familiar?

The French are so obnoxious that even New Yorkers think they've got an attitude problem.

a misunderstanding about wealth that stemmed from when it was “defined by cows and land” and “the only way my wealth could increase is if I took yours away”.

There is a lot of wisdom in that statement and explains much of the moonbats' hatred for capitalism.

They're just cranky because they know their low birthrates and irresponsible immigration policies will result in an islamic france towards the end of their lifetimes.

I'd probably be miserable too if in the back of my mind I knew I'd end up alone and hoping against hope that Mohamed, the Algerian immigrant with 10 children to support, would somehow find it in his heart to pay for my useless, infidel body, to get proper care in the sunset of my life.

If what I just wrote made you sad or angry,
it was probably just a joke.

I worked for a major US company in Paris for four years. The government had their 'labor trackers' with clickers and watches at our building entrance each day.

They recorded the number and time of employees entering and leaving the building.

This was to get the aggregate man-hours worked daily, to ensure that people were not working too much. Our company faced stiff fines for violating the work rules.

This mindset is coupled with a very high tax rate. Not a business friendly place to locate... especially for those who want to compete internationally.

How will we know that has happened? If we find out, will we be able to tell the difference? And if we find out, and can tell the difference, why would we care?

Reminds me of a former co-worker from NY. For "fun", she'd deliberately crash her grocery cart into someone else's while shopping.

Anyhow, she did a temporary assignment in Paris, and complained how rude the Parisians were. Those in our old group who see each other now and then are STILL chuckling over that remark almost 15 years later!

Yup. A hare-brained Socialist has-been who makes Pelosi look like a pinnacle of wisdom.

The fact that the American MSMs latched on her does nothing to increase their credibility. Losers worshiping losers.

3 nights ago while on a trip from Prescott to Kingman AZ I picked up a French Surgeon who had a HUGE elk with his rental car in the middle of nowhere. With limited cross language skills we did have a conversation. First he thought there should be a emergancy phone every mile, like they have in France. Then he mentioned how we are not doing very well in Iraq. I told him "Better than you guys did in 'Nam, and WW-1 & 2." ........ frogs!

Back in the 1930's my Grandfather had a name for the French. He and my Grandmother lived in NYC and were looking to rent an apartment they would not rent to "Italians" the owners of the building were French. Needless to say my Grandfather always referred to the French with a not so nice name but he would say it in his beautiful Italian accent!

Is it for real? It was a recent best-seller. (The title is a take off of a sentimental 1950's French best seller, "Hello Loneliness")
