I hope we are still The United States of America in 20 years and not the Islamic States of America.

Are the lives of courageous young American volunteers like Joshua Frazier worth so little to our Congress that they would ignore our peril for perverse personal political profit?

Wait, wait, let me guess! Uhhh...yes?

Good questions, and if Americans will just wake up and make the effort to use what God has given us in our Declaration of Independence, country and Constitution we already have the answer.

I am not advocating the violent overthrow of the US government, but something will have to be done or it won't matter what I advocate.

I just want to sound the clarion call, once again, for us to wake up and realize it's not a choice between utopia and what we have, but rather a choice between what we have and whole lot worse under Muslim rule. The situation is not static, it's changing and right now it's changing for the worse. It should take nothing more than that asinine resolution passed by the House yesterday to wake us up to the fact that the Greatest Generation was willing to fight and die for will no longer exist, if it even exists now.

Sometimes I feel like we at FreeRep are like Noah. We know what's coming and we're trying to sound the warning, but no one listens.

I am in the twilight years of my life so it's of limited importance to me, but it's of utmost importance to my grandchildren.

Maybe it's a matter of nothing more than mounting a nationwide movement to pick a day and EVERYONE call the Congressional switchboard. So many calls, over and over that NO ONE can get through, and more importantly they can't call out.

Something is going to have to happen to turn us around. A mushroom cloud rising over NY or Chicago, or Dallas will probably do the trick, but I would like to see it turned around before that happens.

I would have thought that the hijacking and crashing of four jumbo jets, three of them into worldwide icons of America's strength and importance to the world, along with the deaths of over 3,000 people would have been sufficient. But I guess not.

There are no words to explain how angry I am that the situation has reached a point where the House can actually pass a resolution, non-binding or not, to openly rebel against the Commander-in-Chief while our troops are on foreign soil, dying and being horribly wounded on a daily basis.

The resolution might be non-binding on the President, but try to explain that to a bunch of crazed people who will pack their own babies with explosives and kill them just to get a few others.

Ollie, I have to disagree somewhat.

Yes, the Congress is ineffective. But so is the Commander in Chief. Bush's ineffective leadership has been costly. His "deer caught in the headlights" look since the invasion ended and--guess what--the Iraqis didn't give up! has cost us dearly.

So is the Pentagon's leadership, that does not allow the troops to fight the war they need to fight.

Yes, there are too many politically correct folks running this whole thing. War is war. The only people that seem to get that are those over there trying to fight it as best they can.

Damn the whole Washington group to hell. They deserve to burn for their ineptitude.

re: Are you planning on coming to DC on March 17th?

With all due respect, forget Washington DC. The most you could hope for is a million people and even then it would not be impressive. We need it to happen all across America, at every level.

Even if you get a million people the MSM will say the turnout was lower than expected and find a dozen or so counter-protesters and present their side of the story.

Things like the million-man march only work once, maybe twice, then they are no longer news. Or the MSM finds a way to blunt them.

No, we've got to find a new and unique way to express our anger and frustration. I'm thinking. Electing Newt as President will be a good start, but I don't want to wait until 2008!

With all due respect, when the loonies show up in larger numbers, people in this country will think we should give up. This country has too many sheeple that will lead us down the wrong road to ruin because the rest of us were too f'n busy with our own lives. Rather selfish if you ask me.

No. At some point, however, we may have to resort to the truly American solution of replacing it - by force if necessary - provided we still have the means given us by the Founders.

You have stated the current situation perfectly.

The big news this morning is that Brittany Spears has shaved her head. I can't help but compare her downward spiral to that of our current Congress--outrageous, unacceptable, out-of-control behavior, (a non-binding resolution????), a horrendous disregard for her babies (our troops in harm's way), a train-wreck waiting to happen.

I also believe that if San Francisco or Los Angeles had been the target of the 9/11 terrorists, if the Hollywood studies had imploded, our ? Congress would be singing a different tune. Unfortunately it is going to take a major disaster again before they wake up to reality. I truly fear what is ahead for my children and grandchildren.

The House just completed voting, and has approved 246-182 the Democrats' defeatist resolution. This was expected: but the good news is, the 40-60 Republican defectors that the Democrats had been predicting failed to materialize. Historically the most dangerious thing for a government has been disgunted military and their vets who feel that their leadership has betrayed them or let them down, Weimer Germany for example.

If anyone wants the overthrow or not is one thing but I think we are seeing the likelyhood increase thanks to the Democrats.

Got to admit that the idea of Muthra and Peloski seeing the Marines pull up en masse in front of the Capital brings a smile on my face.

Personally I have as much respect for our Congress and the American Voter as I do for the townsfolk in the Western movie "High Noon". The US Military may win the fight in Iraq but I wouldn't be surprised to see many rank and file throw down their tin star in disgust and leave the ranks thanks to the lack of support from our "elites" in Washington and the Press.

[.. I am increasingly convinced that overwhelming military action is the right solution to this problem - in Washington, D.C. ..]

True been saying that for 5/6/7 years..
The problem is Americans have become cowards..
A bloody civil war scares them into living "with it"..

Could be why theres the Afganistan, Iraqi Wars...
Gets anybody with any decent BALLS to speak of out of the United States..
You know anybody that might revolt into a civil war.. keeping them "busy"..

Agree with Col. North 100%. If the Iraq campaign, indeed the rest of the war against islamic totalitarianism, were happening on Clinton's watch, or any other democrat for that matter, but particularly Clinton, there would be nary a peep from congress, the "MSM", hollywood, academe, and so forth.

Those entities would be leading the cheers for the gallant, intrepid CINC taking it to the islamofascists. Casualities? Minimal, they would say. Far below any ever seen for such a successful campaign, well worth the sacrifice. Plus, after all, they are volunteers who, in the view of the limousine liberal democrats who control congress, have little better to do.

The democrat party is nothing but a bunch of despicable hypocrites.

The hypocrisy of voting to confirm Petraus 87-0 and then turning around and voting their displeasure at the troop surge makes blood shoot from my eyes.
