The shooter had a criminal record and had dropped out of high school at age 16. He had been "praying" at the nearby mosque for the last two years. It's a classic recruitment of a disaffected loser into jihad.

Thank you for the times, they will definitely help...I have watched it over and over, but wasn't sure when in this clip it was supposedly said. Here we go, back to putting my ear to my speaker :)

I think DBrow has a point.

That doesn't mean the Muslim aspect should not be looked into (it very much needs to be answered). Currently, the very PC SLC Mayor and the majority of the MSM (KSL being an exception here) are doing their best to avoid/downplay the matter. It should not be.

On the other hand, we do ourselves a disservice to immediately jump to conclusions and look for evidence of that meets a predetermined view rather than letting the facts lead to a conclusion.

I would also caution that we get overly focused on the Mosque - the local Mosque may not be the culprit - what was his web activity (at home and at the library etc)? Friends?...

The kid had a juvenile court history that suggests mental problems, even though in more recent years, everyone perceived him to be just "quiet". I doubt there was any terrorist connection, but if there was it doesn't negate the first explanation. Terrorists looking to recruit people to do things that will result in their own demise, will naturally look for the troubled, impressionable, youngster who imagines having nothing to live for. Mentally stable people who were not raised in a society completely saturated with jihadist Islamo-extremism simply can't be persuaded to do things like this. This kid grew up in a very moderate brand of Islam, and was living in the peaceful and prosperous USA. He had MAJOR mental problems if some terrorist from the local mosque could persuade him to go on a suicidal spree to shoot up strangers at a shopping mall.

"What was his web activity (at home and at the library etc)? Friends?..."

According to reports, he neither had many friends (a few fellow refugees) nor a computer, although his parents have stated they pulled him out of school at age 16 after he got caught in class looking up info on AK-47's. I don't know...in my opinion, the dozen or so facts uncovered all point to the same conclusion and have already painted a pretty clear picture of what happened....maybe it's just me.

2 - His imam (Muslim priest) at that aforementioned mosque was recently charged with beating his wife in front of his 2 kids and throwing a knife at her less than a month ago...he went to seek "refuge" in Chicago not long before the mall incident:

You may want to check that. Sulejman Talovic attended the Al Noor Mosque while the imam (Shuaib-ud Din) 'preached' at the Khadeeja Mosque in West Valley City. Thus far, I have not seen any evidence that Sulejman attended the Khadeeja Mosque.

Computer - he may not own one, but did he use one at the library. Friends - maybe not a friend but what new 'acquaintances' did he have.

Basically, I was just stating we need to look at several different angles (just used the above as two examples) to avoid placing too much focus on the Mosque aspect while missing the greater influence, if any.

Thank you for the info. I will study what I have on this again.

...but that piece of info. I stated was fairly irrelevant, only what I thought to be a small piece to the puzzle. I think the bigger piece of evidence is the actual video clip where he's yelling "Allah Akbar". Not to mention that he did it on a day when previous Muslim terrorist acts have been committed...the day before Valentine's Day...and that he was shooting at a gift card store.

Yes, all needs to be taken into account. As for the library, supposedly he hardly ever left his home outside of going to his mosque. Most neighbors didn't even know him, although most knew his parents and two younger sisters.

Here is the Treason Media angle. Kid gets seduced by the Gun Culture. Becomes obsessed with guns. Now it will have to elide over where he got them and when/where he practiced. But I am sure it can handle it.

"What a gutsy fellow."

From the shots from the muslim, pause, more shots, pause, more shots.... the cop knew he was up against a lot of fire power. One of the internet video interviews of a witness (another hero), the witness (a store owner) was going around to the other stores to get them back and lock up. He was going through the mall doing this and then caught sight of the terrorist (I don't care if he was a white pimple-faced kid upset over his girlfriend - this was a terrorist act).

Anyway, he catches site of the guy and grabs a stool to throw at him (witness on second floor above the perp). He's trying to get a view of the perp and sees the off duty cop who has his gun drawn and nods his head to the guy to let him know he's a good guy, and needs to know where the bad guy is. They use hand signals and whispering he leads the cop to the bad guy.

And the cop backs the bad guy into a store and corners him until the cavalry arrives.

Oh- earlier the cop told the witness/helper/co-hero: "I only have six rounds".

Well, time will tell. It's a good think we have alternative media - the MSM has it's mind (pre)made up on this.

I watched and listened to the video but couldn't make out the 'Allah Akbar'. I know some technically adept FReepers are working on slowing it down and clearing it up. Hopefully, they'll be able to confirm or deny whether yelled it.

Have a good night - time for me to sign off.

Yes...so unbelievably brave. I look forward to seeing this man commended on behalf of his actions. Apparently the young shooter had a ton of rounds in his backpack and could've killed many more if not for this man's actions.

To use an old saw:

"And if someone told him to jump off a bridge, would he do that too?"

At what point does personal responsibility for one's actions cease to be a guiding prinicple?

Anyone with a mosque near them should be afraid.
They preach hate. Hate against America and hate against Christians. Hate against anything not islamic.

"Let's wait and see what the investigation uncovers and what the media says about it."

Did we ever hear from the investigation of the suicide bomber at that Texas college?

To be honest, the coverage on this one scares me a little bit. It seemed like it was hardly a story at all, even the day it happened. I hear very little about it except for FR. I am not a conspiracy nut, but I don't understand why the media is afraid to call muslims muslims when they are involved in unsavory or unlawful behsvior.
