I don't know MinuteGal, and I'm not a doctor, but the words "surgery" and "infection" trigger something in my mind. In the last couple of years, it has become clear how important blood sugar control is in the management of infection, especially where surgery is concerned. If MinuteGal is the least bit diabetic, she should get her blood sugar under control with insulin to heal her infection before surgery, and to prevent worse infections following surgery. High doses of vitamin C (10 grams/day) are also useful.
