Americans warm to royal emissions (Prince Charles & "Global Warming")
The First Post (UK) ^ | January 29, 2007 | Edward Helmore

The green prince has found an uncritical audience for his message. Feted in Philadelphia, honoured in New York, Prince Charles's East Coast weekend appears to have re-cast the heir to the throne in a new role.

While Americans have always been entranced by the gleam of royalty - even if they would not choose it for themselves - America's willingness to hear the Prince's message on environmental issues suggests that he has a voice here in the former colony that is drowned out in the convolution of royal goings-on at home.

Americans are not interested in the obvious eco-contradictions of the visit - the emissions of flying the royal party over, or indeed the emissions from the extended motorcade. These are easy hits. But they are now interested in climate change.

On Sunday, the Prince found himself in ideal company at the Harvard Club where he received an award for being a world-class organic farmer and gardener. On his table sat previous winners, Al Gore, E.O. Wilson, the eminent biologist, and Meryl Streep, who told me that the prince is a "courageous man and a visionary of the environmental movement".

We've been polite enough to avoid complaining about the smell of royal emissions for well over 200 years.

Gee: I am A,erican and I didnt even know he was over here. How could I warm to him? I guess this paper decides what Americans warm up to. Not Americans.

In fact I used to half way think this prince character was put upon,but lately he has become such a dork I can now see why the Queen would rather die in office than turn it over to this mental midget.

I think this is spin reporting just because the the Prince's request gave the crowds such delight;

"... and a beer for my horse."

Charles is a turnip with an IQ of 12. No thanks... I'll take a pass on his scientific expertise!

Harvard just keeps sinking to new lows. With that huge endowment, what a pity.

Since the methane rich farts from grass eating animals like horse are a source of global warming, Charles better get rid of his polo ponies. Not sure what he can do about the horse faced wife.
