they will know just where to come to get them.

In some states that information would not do the government a bit of good. :)

"An M1 Carbine is an assault rifle?"

Actually it's one of the few one the list that really is an assault rifle. After all, it was designed for combat troops. Now the last time I heard it was used in the commission of a crime was.... nope, it hasn't been; just as most others on the list haven't. This is the red herring that the leftists use to disarm the American people of weapons that actually could be useful against government troops. The very weapons protected by the 2nd amendment! The term "bear arms" is only used in a military/combat-against-Man context. (You do not "bear arms" against a deer in the woods!)

"...City of Kennesaw..."

Right, I was thinking the city was called Kennesaw Mountain like the nearby battlefield. Congressman Larry McDonald represented that area. His district ran from Marietta through Rome and on up to the Chattanooga suburbs. I was a campaign boy for his '82 reelection and stayed long term in a motel located about where Marietta fades into Kennesaw.

Aren't you glad the "true conservatives" taught the GOP a "lesson" in 2006?

Arn't you glad our "represenatives" ignored fair warnings? Those idiots are supposed to represent their constituents, not rule to spite them.

When the weapons become illegal or are required to be registered, they will know just where to come to get them.

And we, in turn, will know just where to start shooting.

Good old Larry. I used to meet him periodically at the Stone Mountain Highland Games. We used to laugh at him because he wore baby blue boxer shorts under his kilt, and they showed.

He was right all along about the commies, though . . . and they got him just like he said they would . . .

"The question is which do the Democrats love more? Power or Socialism for the masses?"

Being in a position to dictate socialism to the masses = power over the masses.

The GOP hasn't learned anything yet.

You can say that again. The GOP leadership seems to think that the way to win an election is to turn farther left. The idiots just don't understand the concept that we, the people want the constitutional republic that this country is supposed to be.

Until they get their collective leadership heads out of their backsides, we as a country will suffer.

Exactly! As far as I'm concerned you get the government you deserve. If that turns out to be Obama or Hillary in '08...welll so be it. I refuse to vote for a RINO like McLame or Juliani when it's going to wind up he cuts my throat anyway. Somebody like Duncan Hunter stands an excellent shot at victory against any Demoncrat, because the choice will be so clear cut. A true conservative could win that matchup handily. That's why I've just signed on as a volunteer for Duncan Hunter.

Yes that's correct. But my point is that the Democrats overreached in 1994. If they act too much like Socialists too quickly, they could get punished in 2008.

Interestingly, this list is rather out of date. There are new guns on the market that "should" be on the list.

These thugs can't even legislate competently.

I agree with you and I find it puzzling they are repeating this tactic. I can only assume they believe they are ready for the conversion to socialism once the American populace has been disarmed – but then again, that would be relatively easy.

Just some thoughts - about .02 worth.

If they pass it, then Republicans will retake Congress and will likely also win the presidency.

The original AWB cost Dems a lot of seats.

My bet is this won't make it out of committee unless Pelosi knows the Republicans will filibuster it.

Talking about it will help the liberals with their liberal constituencies, and a lot of gun owners will ignore it as long as it doesn't pass.

After the 2008 election, there is a good chance they will try and pass this.

NOTHING on that list is an "assault rifle". An assault rifle is a selective (full or semi-automatic) fire military weapon. Deliberately confusing the two in the eyes of the general public and even many gun owners is one of the gun banners great accomplishments (in their eyes).
