Clinton Camp to Obama: Cut Ties & Return Cash After Top Booster's Vicious Attacks
HillaryClinton.com ^ | Feb. 21, 2007

Posted on 02/21/2007 8:42:28 AM PST by seanmerc

As Obama rails against "slash & burn" politics, his top Hollywood fundraiser - David Geffen - personally attacks Hillary & her family

Clinton Communications Director Howard Wolfson issued the following statement today demanding that Barack Obama disavow personal attacks that his campaign finance chair made against Senator Clinton in this morning's New York Times:

"While Senator Obama was denouncing slash and burn politics yesterday, his campaign's finance chair was viciously and personally attacking Senator Clinton and her husband.

"If Senator Obama is indeed sincere about his repeated claims to change the tone of our politics, he should immediately denounce these remarks, remove Mr. Geffen from his campaign and return his money.

"While Democrats should engage in a vigorous debate on the issues, there is no place in our party or our politics for the kind of personal insults made by Senator Obama's principal fundraiser.

Because "their" party is so squeaky clean and polite.

The way some people are lovable, the Clintons are attackable. They both leave a slime trail behind.

I, too, love a good Democrat in-fight.

"Everybody in politics lies, but they [the Clintons] do it with such ease, it’s troubling,” Geffen said.

Among other things, Hollywood and music mogul Geffen told Dowd, "God knows, is there anybody more ambitious than Hillary Clinton?" and "Obama is inspirational, and he’s not from the Bush royal family or the Clinton royal family. Americans are dying every day in Iraq. And I’m tired of hearing James Carville on television.”

"I don’t think anybody believes that in the last six years, all of a sudden Bill Clinton has become a different person,” Mr. Geffen says, adding that if Republicans are digging up dirt, they’ll wait until Hillary’s the nominee to use it. “I think they believe she’s the easiest to defeat.”

-- She is overproduced and overscripted. “It’s not a very big thing to say, ‘I made a mistake’ on the war, and typical of Hillary Clinton that she can’t,” Mr. Geffen says. “She’s so advised by so many smart advisers who are covering every base. I think that America was better served when the candidates were chosen in smoke-filled rooms.”

-- Once, David Geffen and Bill Clinton were tight as ticks. Mr. Geffen helped raise some $18 million for Bill and slept in the Lincoln Bedroom twice. Bill chilled at Chateau Geffen. Now, the Dreamworks co-chairman calls the former president “a reckless guy” who “gave his enemies a lot of ammunition to hurt him and to distract the country.”

-- They fell out in 2000, when Mr. Clinton gave a pardon to Marc Rich after rebuffing Mr. Geffen’s request for one for Leonard Peltier. “Marc Rich getting pardoned? An oil-profiteer expatriate who left the country rather than pay taxes or face justice?” Mr. Geffen says. “Yet another time when the Clintons were unwilling to stand for the things that they genuinely believe in. Everybody in politics lies, but they do it with such ease, it’s troubling.”

She is the most evil without question. But Bill and Hill have put together a machine that is beyond compare. Hillary! will be the next POTUS, the machine will make sure that happens by whatever means necessary.

"Leonard Peltier (born September 12, 1944) is a Native American activist and member of the American Indian Movement. In 1977 he was convicted and sentenced to two consecutive terms of life imprisonment for the murders of two FBI Agents who died during a 1975 shoot-out on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. There has been considerable debate over Peltier’s guilt and the fairness of his trial. Some supporters and organizations, including Amnesty International, consider him to be a political prisoner.[1] Numerous appeals have been filed on his behalf; however, none have been ruled in his favor. Peltier is currently incarcerated at the United States Penitentiary in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania."

Right, Obama is going to give back the money to his top supporter.

This is particularly amusing because Bill and Hillary thought that Hollywood loved them. Hillary was quoted in the book, Partners in Power, as saying that there were two kinds of people in Arkansas, the dirt and the rich, that they got their votes from the dirt and made their friends among the rich. Some one should tell Hillary that she and Bill don't have any real friends. You have to be a friend to have friends.

This ending blurb is just RIPE with good stuff. The pardon of Marc Rich and Pincus Green was so telling -- and it is one of the things that should give Rudy a wonderful counterpoint if he gets the nod to oppose Hillary. It was Rudy who was the prosecutor pursuing Marc Rich only to see Bubba give him a last minute pardon ("he had been punished enough"). This will bring back all of Bill and Hill's last minute shennigans and pay-offs for political donations, etc.

Nice to see David Geffen being honest enough to make these statements despite knowing how the Clintonoids would come back at him. I wonder how the Hollyweird celebs will react to Clinton's camp going after one of their favorite sons.

Actually, I might have to disagree with you there.

At the big Speilberg-Geffen bash, Mr. Hussein Obama was able to gross only $1.3M, which is an absolutely PATHETIC take.

Mitt "The Stormin' Mormon" Romney is regularly taking in more than FOUR times that amount at his dinners [$6M+].

When the PIAPS does Hollywood, she'll be expecting to draw EIGHT times that amount [$10M+].

If a measly $1.3M is the best that Mr. Hussein Obama can muster from the likes of David Geffen & The Sodomites, then the dude is toast: Break out the champagne, Hillary, 'cause the fat lady has sung.

The imperious Camp Clinton really expects adversaries to "cut ties and return cash" because they are allowing a supporter like David Geffen to tell the truth about the Clintons as he sees it???Unbelievable, but expected!
All I can say to Geffen is "YOU GO, GIRL!!!!!!
THis kind of stuff will only harden large parts of Hollywood's resolve against Hillary, as it should....remember that some of what Geffen said about being a "good liar" was also said years ago by another Democrat, Bob Kerrey.......
In this Team Clinton directive, though, we now see just how they take any opposition: they put Obama's entirely legitimate bid to be the nominee and his supporters' REAL criticism of the entirely Establishment Hillary Clinton as equivalent to , say, major financial support by some fanatical far Left OR far Right fringe group. I can't even think of any examples, because these groups have already been absorbed or nullified as players in the political realm. What NERVE of the Clintons to think that kind of strategy would "fly"!!!!!
