Worshipers were interrupted during an Ash Wednesday service at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis by a trio of hidden CD players spewing "pornographic" messages from beneath pews.
Three CD players had been duct-taped beneath the pews and rigged to go off at 12:20 p.m., Santa Fe Police Capt. Gary Johnson said. An Ash Wednesday service was being conducted at the time, and Johnson said responding officers described the messages to him as pornographic, although he wouldn't go into detail about their content.
The cathedral staff found and removed the three CD players, then called police while church-goers evacuated the cathedral.
The bomb squad arrived at 1 p.m. and destroyed two of the devices, Johnson said. Realizing the devices didn't contain explosives, officers saved the third CD player for evidence.
"We take this very seriously," Johnson said. "We'll be analyzing the piece of equipment for DNA and fingerprints. We'll also be reaching out to the federal authorities. We're going to use whatever resources we can possibly use to solve this case."

More than likely, Satan at work. And it always works against him
This is funny! School for the Deaf. I hope they washed their hands and did their finger excercies, you know, to keep up the tempo. I wonder if they all fingered soprano?
I am an agnostic and find nothing humorous about this. Somebody's Momma ought to be tearing the hide off their backside, or should have done it more when they were kids. This is just simply a terribly disrespectful and crude act by uncivilized punks.
Those tolerant lefties are just exercising their right to free speech!
Ha ha ha!!!
CFA had a show on that Santa Fe radio station - that was later taken over by: AIR AMERICA!!!
He is such a dork.
Probably some of those lefty turdballs from St. John's "College".
CFA hits every call in show eventually. I even heard him on a sports station once. It must be pretty stress free living in Mom's basement.
would it have been any better if done at a town meeting? yeah sure, someone should get a whooping, but kids (even good kids) sometimes do dumb things.
Hate crime? terrorisim? nah - prank? yup - no-one got hurt, local law enforcement got to blow stuff up, as far as I can see everyboby should be happy.
You are right. There is nothing humorous about this. The persecution of the Jews in Europe probably started in much the same way, a little bit at a time. Christians next?
I think CFA* was on Drudge one night, IIRC. Maybe he'll show up on Mark Levin some day if the ABQ area gets his show.
*for the unaware, CFA=Chris From Abiquiu.
I've heard him on Rush, Hannity and Medved. Lord knows what name he posts under at DU.
Could be, but I'll stick with young people. I said high school kids, but I'd up the age to include SF Community College, College of Santa Fe and St. John's College age persons.
Last year before Christmas our Pastor looked out the Rectory window and noticed the lights were on in the old Convent, so he called the police. Someone had broken in. The police figured it was a transient trying to get in out of the cold. An hour later, the lights were on again. The police went inside and found that some of the Stained Glass windows had been smashed and other things had been vandalized. They checked out the neighborhood for "persons" walking around. An hour later the lights were back on. This time the police went in and found that most of the wooden furniture had been broken up and piled up in the form of a bonfire and a can of gas next to it. We had to spend some serious money to seal the Convent. The police did not want to say it was a Hate Crime. We now need at least two Knights of Columbus at Eucharistic Adoration because the old ladies are scared to be in the Church at night alone.
If it were only one player, I might agree.
Sick, sick, sick!!
