Gore thought to be among Nobel nominees

By Doug Mellgren, Associated Press Writer | February 22, 2007

OSLO, Norway --Former vice president and environmental advocate Al Gore is believed to be among 181 nominees for the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize.

This year, those include Gore, for campaigning to draw attention to the threat of global warming, Irena Sendler, a Polish woman who saved the lives of Jewish children during World War II, and American TV host Oprah Winfrey.

Other announced nominees include Canadian Intuit environmentalist Sheila Watt-Cloutier, Bolivian President Evo Morales and U.N. AIDS envoy to Africa Stephen Lewis.

Those with nomination rights include former peace laureates, the awards committee and its staff, members of national governments and legislatures, selected university professors and others.

Hell, if they'll give one to Jimmy Carter they'll give one to anybody. It's about as meaningful as a Grammy going to the Dixie Chicks.

It always amazes me that John Paul II never received the Nobel. I guess he will just have to settle for sainthood and the knowledge that he freed million of people from communism.

Well, they passed up Ronald Reagan in favor of Gorbechev. And Clinton actively lobbied for it.

We're living in Bizarro World where terrorists like Arafat get the Nobel Peace Prize.

Give it to Irena. She could use the money, and she's been waiting more than sixty years.

If they're going to try to honor Gore for his "work" then why not posthumously award Trofim Lysenko a Nobel in medicine or biology. Like minds and "accomplishments" deserve to be equally rewarded.

My mistake. I unfairly maligned Lysenko by putting him on the same level as Gore. Gore does not even reach the mental capacity of Lysenko.

A Polish woman who saved the lives of Jewish children during World War II, or AlGore.

The Polish woman has no chance of winning, unfortunately. Here's how the Nobel committee would likely be thinking of her nomination:

Many of the children she saved no doubt emigrated to Israel, displacing native Palestinians and thus further aggravating the Middle East situation, leading to increased acts of terror and bloodshed throughout the world.

Whereas, if she'd turned them over to the SS, they wouldn't have lived to make matters worse in Palestine.

Therefore, in the Nobel Peace Prize committee's humble opinion, if anyone is deserving of the Prize, it is those who collaborated in the Holocaust and helped reduce the number of Jews to overrun the Palestinians.

Of course, they'll never say so in public.

Ronald Reagan wins the Cold War without firing a shot, and Gorbachev gets the Nobel Peace Prize for losing.

Nobel Peace Prize = Pure BS.

Do you think they probably meant Inuit? I believe Intuit is the company that sells Turbo Tax. So much for proofreading and fact-checking.

The GoreOracle is gonna be the winner. All these socialist hack groups stick together. Who cares. It really tells you what is going on, how does global warming effect world peace, it is a peace prize after all.

It was reported today that Arizona had a 50% chance of having a warmer than average summer. (A big U of A study).

Of course, that means it also has a 50% chance of NOT having a warmer than average summer. In other words, a cooler summer.

Now doesn't that mean we here in Arizona stand a 100% chance of having an AVERAGE SUMMER.

Just who do these asses think they are fooling? Unfortunately about 60% of the population!
