>"Magnificently sophisticated geometric patterns in mediaeval Islamic architecture indicate their designers achieved a mathematical breakthrough 500 years earlier than Western scholars, scientists said on Thursday."

Nah, it was just the hashish talking.

By the 15th century, decorative tile patterns on these masterpieces of Islamic architecture reached such complexity that a small number boasted what seem to be "quasicrystalline" designs, Harvard University's Peter Lu and Princeton University's Paul Steinhardt wrote in the journal Science.

Fine. But what have you done for me lately?

"Islamic culture flourished beginning in the 7th century, with achievements over numerous centuries in mathematics, medicine, engineering, ceramics, art, textiles, architecture and other areas."

And some examples of the achievements in each of these fields would include......?

"Yep. The birth of Mohamhead signaled the long slow death of arab civilization."

Hmmm...Interesting coincidence.

We found it. We dug it out of the ground. And we discovered a use for it. My dog is more inventive than arabs.

Any claim the Arabs have to any advancements in the sciences or arts are nothing more than a part of the cultural theft they ritually engage in when they attack and destroy a civilization. After the Arabs robbed the Persians, the Byzantines and the Hindus of the knowledge they had accumulated, their development pretty much stops.

I tend to believe they all stole from each other, including the first Egyptian and Nubian kingdoms, and some others.

Rugs from that region are renown; that at least shouldn't be contested.
