What is an ultra conservative? That sounds like liberal speak to me. If ultra conservativism was a crime, there wouldn't be enough evidence to convict anyone on the republican slate.

Please keep in mind we have to have someone who is electable and not just smart..if not the Dems will win and i will have to move to Siberia Be realistic , an ULTRA conservative has NO chance of winning at all. rudy is my best choice so far.
I respect your comments, however, I cannot support someone so far away from my values, just because they are "electable". I want someone who will stand up for ( and has voted that way) the things that not only do I believe in, but that I believe will be good for this great country of ours.
There comes a time in everyones lives when they say to themselves," this time I need to stand up for what I really believe in." My time is here and now. I will fight for, and support what I believe in until primary season is over. After that, I'll have to make more choices based on what is presented to me.
IMHO, I think anyone using the term "electable", 18-19 months removed from the generals, is either not willing to stand up for what they believe in at this point, or not really a conservative.

I guess 'Winning' has different meanings for the two groups, right? WHAT IS WINNING I ask myself?... Actually if RG got elected, he would represent a LOSS for values in America. It would be a tremendous loss for Morality, for decency... should I dare to say, a loss for God all mighty?...
We can not let that happen! Let's roll! :)

We can not let that happen! Let's roll! :)I was reading you post, and then I got to this line, and my whole body shook. I've dreamt of being on that plane. How would I think. How would I react. Do I have the balls to live.
That right there furthers my resolve that I need to do the right thing for me, my family, and my country.
Rudy did a great job in NYC after 9/11, but I need someone who has a broader handle on this, and I believe Hunter, after his tenure as head of ASC, can do a better job for this country.

Keep an open mind with Romney. There are some real solid conservatives who were once libs. Even Reagan was a Dem at one point.

I'm sorry I did not reply sooner. Agree on the Good job Rudy did, and again, there should an important position in government for him, but not president.
Keep the hope and take care :)

I can see your point and even the 'resemblance' with Regan and Romney. But I'm afraid times have changed. Social issues are very important today. In Reagan's day, they weren't... you could afford to be 'moderate,' and that would be find. But as you well know, the very culture in country is in danger. Christian values, and morality in general, even if you are not a Christian, have gone down hill, to the point where we just can not let it slide down any further. The Homosexual agenda/ ACLU, are in full battle mode for anything that has to do with God, the schools, etc, etc, etc.
That is why a 'genuine' conservative is needed. And if we lose 2008 because we hold on to our values and convictions... so be it. But to 'Win' with a Lefty or one very questionable like Romney, I am afraid that is a chance we can't take.
Sorry, take care :)
