I was gonna say, it's not Arabic, it's not "Persian", it's Farsi.

And if you want to get a REAL idea of what life under the mullahs is like--talk to someone who lives there or Encino, etc.

I worked in Brentwood for 25 years ("11777 Building" at San Vicente and Montana). The only conservatives I'd see were - correct - the Iranian expats and some of the shopowners. The home owners that I'd run across (and I interacted with a lot of them during that time) were almost exclusively hard left; in their own little liberal comfort-zone enclave.

That's why Whole Foods does so well there...

We have many Iranian-born friends, whether Muslim (one of which is due soon to receive an award from a local Jewish community), semi-practicing Muslim (over the past two decades), and Christian convert, who feed our image of Iran today. (Building on my Farsi-phone wife's personal knowledge of Iran a while back.)

My daughters went to high school in Woodland Hills, Ca. (San Fernando Valley). It was a very negative experience...

Taft? A former coworker of mine went there and she'd agree with everything you said.

A friend of mine's son also attended Taft. He was a tall, gangly, blond-haired white boy with a Southern accent. Life was pretty much hell for him.

Yep. Taft. My daughter : pale, redhead; good student and she was miserable.

Well doll, then you have never met me :-)

Yes, there are many hard lefties here. Oh, are they ever! True, true, true. But it is also true that conservatives keep there mouths shut around here. You can tell a lot in this town by what people are not saying and how much they are not saying it. But yes, you have clearly spent some serious time in my neighborhood, I am so sorry you are gone, we need all the conservatives we can get (no matter what there cultural linage. This America for God's sake)! And yes, many Iranian ex pats are more conservative then people think.

I shop at Whole Foods too :-). The whole west side it seems or left side is a liberal enclave, but there are more conservatives here in Brentwood then in Santa Monica, I have found, but yes, not many.

Political correctness and silly attempts to emulate the Europeenies is going to get us all killed. Or at least a great many of us.
