So the Michael Jordan era was part of the "Darkness," huh? You must not be from Chicago!
If I recall correctly, Dennis Rodman was a contemporary Michael Jordan, and is more the model of the current version of the NBA "star" than Jordan is, more's the pity... One can consider Jordan to be one of the last of a dying, if not toatally extinct by now breed, the classy NBA player, and exception, not a rule...

Yes. While Michael Jordan was a great player (possibly the most gifted player ever), I was never happy with the way the referees called the game with him on the court. For example traveling used to mean something, but count the steps when Jordan makes one of his spectacular moves.
You really cannot argue with the Bulls dominance over those 8 years (6 championships). Only the Bill Russell Celtics were greater, and they did not have to win nearly as many playoff games to win their championships.
The Bulls problem is that they did not have an adequate foil for their success (not really their fault). The Lakers in the 80s had the Celtics and the 76s.
I'm curious- what is Vegas like when they stage big MMA events?
Although Jordan benefited from many calls (as do all great players - witness Shaq blasting into guys in the low post), he wasn't the only traveler who got a pass. Magic also got to trot quite a bit. And I'm not sure how much you can blame players for taking advantage of officiating quirks.

Vegas is usually flows pretty well. We're set up for tourists - they come, they have a good time, they leave.
What happened during the all star game was 10 people came to town and shared a room. A couple of rooms with 10 people is no big deal, but good chunks of the hotels were crammed with people. There were brawls at a lot of the major casinos (including a rumored gang shoot out at the MGM.) All the restaurants were packed. All the stores were packed. And the roads were flooded with cars. It was a nightmare. :(
But usually Vegas doesn't look like this.

Every month for the a last 2 years or so Vegas held sold out Arena level events. 15-18000 people or so
I was looking for an on the ground Compare/Contrast of MMA fans to NBA fans.
