WASHINGTON - Democratic leaders backed away from aggressive plans to limit President Bush's war authority, the latest sign of divisions within their ranks over how to proceed.Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said Monday he wanted to delay votes on a measure that would repeal the 2002 war authorization and narrow the mission in Iraq.
Senior Democrats who drafted the proposal, including Sens. Joseph Biden of Delaware and Carl Levin of Michigan, had sought swift action on it as early as this week, when the Senate takes up a measure to enact the recommendations of the bipartisan Sept. 11 commission.
Reid, who will huddle with Democrats Tuesday to discuss whether to postpone the Iraq debate, cited pressure from victims' families for quick action on the Sept. 11 bill as the reason for doing so.

Chicken Run!
Wonder who they have been talking with.
Joe Liberman put the fear of loosing the Majority in them.
:-)
hehe... this is Joe Lieberman's doing.
I'm not surprised.
I think it's finally dawning on them, if they botch up the war by limiting Bush it will be they that suffer not Bush. From day one(1) they have been learning that it is easier to complain than rule.
Democrats cut-and-run on their cut-and run.
"Democrats cut-and-run on their cut-and-run."
I like that. That's a good one.
"ited pressure from victims' families for quick action on the Sept. 11 bill as the reason for doing so."
What 'victims' is he talking about?
Never mind.
Just re-read it.
So the 'victims' families want us out of Iraq?
Really!
Yep, and I think the despicable murtha helped it along when he bragged about his plan to cut our military off at the knees.
A spelling bee in Congress would be entertaining, but not very dignified.
How many Quayles do you supposed would be discovered ?
I doubt your average Congress critter would have the courage to compete in a spelling bee.
That is good. These un-patriotic a-holes don't have the guts to vote an a bill showing they don't have any guts. What an example for our troops.
Joe Liberman put the fear of loosing the Majority in them.
I believe that is exactly what happened! Heard this evening that Liberman let them know he was against it, and the Dems are afraid he will go from Independent to Republican if they continue to push it! Would love to see Liberman become Republican! He seems to be more conservative than some RINO Republicans out there, at least on the war issue.
Proving once again that most Democrats aren't making decisions based on our nation's best interests but rather how it will affect their political aspirations.
Democrats are wussies. (can I say the 'P' word on FR?)
