Dennis Miller coming to talk radio
DennisMillerRadio ^ | 2/27/07 | raccoonradio/Dennis Miller

Posted on 02/27/2007 8:52:35 AM PST by raccoonradio

He pitches his show. "I'm part libertarian, part objectivist, part conservative. I'm not a liberal but I don't hate liberals like some hosts do, as most of my best friends are liberals. I'm no longer liberal because I wanted to stop my sentences one word short of the word 'but'..."

starts March 26. It MIGHT be on 9-noon Eastern. Not sure. That's the news, and I...am...outta here.

"Our overall legal system? Deeply troubled. There's a group of overweight Americans right now who want to sue the Big 3 automakers. They say the seatbelts won't fit around their waists and thus puts them in harm's way....I don't have anything against fat people, but if you can't get the seat belt around your waist, a head-on collision is the LEAST of your concerns."

Doesn't Glenn Beck not only have that timeslot, but sort of that "tweener" view of the world? I would think, since talk radio is SO crowded with sports and conservative talk, it might be better to go the coasttocoastam route and try to establish something between 10pm and 1 am...or even a little later.

Tammy Bruce is okay in my book, most of the time. She makes some good points and is entertaining. Which in todays pop culture world of politics is a most important attribute for any talkinghead pundit.

Wouldn't even be commenting on Dennis Miller, except I really find the man revolting. Not only is he a rotten comedian, he's a phony, attempting to hoodwink some poorly informed conservatives into thinking, he's one of us. When he obviously is one of them..... a liberal that is. Maybe he can pass as a hybrid liberal-libertarian. Also called, a liberaltarian. LOL I see him more as a jerkface.

I hope he doesn't go against Rush. He'll lose. I love Dennis, though. He has a great way with words, and though he's wrong on a boatload of social issues, he is a lot better than your average clown in front of a mic.

"He uses big words that dumb Americans don't understand."

I don't think dumb people listen to talk radio.

That's exactly why there are several successful conservative shows and Air Amwerika went under.

Will any of these foundering Air America stations let him have a trial run or is he too RW for them?

Oh he's far too RW for them and any mention of his name
brings up "he sold out"; "he's a far right wacko" etc.

I listened to Tammy Bruce regularly on weekends last summer and she was very funny and sounded like a hardcore conservative. Her views on the 2nd Amend., the WOT, a lot of family values issues and so forth were very cogent, informed and solidly backed with logic.

Then one day she explained her Pro-Choice stance which I had never heard her mention before. She took common sense, logic, rationality and fact (all the things she completely relies on for her conservative views), laid all that out quite crisply, and promptly dumped it in the trash can. She ended with something like "that's just the way I feel about it." I haven't listened to her since. AFAIC that's not mere hypocrisy that's schizophrenia.

Hannity for the lightweight that he is

Sean is a good guy, God bless him, and I like his show, but you are absolutely correct. He's no intellectual heavyweight.

Apologies to you Sean if you lurk here.

Good development, but when does Mark Steyn take the plunge?

He's going to be GREAT!

He's one of the sharpest wits ever. If the dig on him is that you have to have stayed awake in some of your college classes, and had to have cracked a book sometime in the last twelve months for something other than to look up a phone number, then oh well.

The smart people in this world have to take it from the stupid every day, pretty much all day.

Now the smart people can make a funny, laugh their a$$e$ off, and laugh again at the perplexed look of the idiots looking on who didn't catch it.

Nah, Hannity is for the conservatives out there that sneak their daily Oprah in when no one is looking.

Laugh, but they are out there. Republicans that are out there that vote that way because their parents did. I know people like this.

My great aunt, and her family, would tune in NIGHTLY to Wheel of Fortune. It's what happened after dinner. These people would work their tails off all day in the soy bean crops and the livestock, eat amazing but simple meals, and then settle in for Wheel.

My aunt had a composition notebook, in which she had penciled every single puzzle that they had on that show from its inception. She kept that up until she died. On election day, they voted the Farm Bureau line, and for the candidates, they marked the R's.

My mother inherited the ignorance, but not the political heritage, so she deluded herself into believing her feelings were actually logical arguments, and voted hippy her entire life.

Dennis rocks - I love that he's socially liberal. He's still funny - even if we disagree. I don't look to him for my political opinions - he is just an hilarious social commentator - opinion giver - He's free to have opinions that are different than mine. Yeah, that freedom of thought thing is really pesky to some people I guess.

So, apparently you can only be a conservative if you agree 100%, not 90%? Geez, I'm betting that some of the people here would find something wrong with Jesus if they didn't realize it was Jesus standing in the room.

Tough crowd - no wonder we have a Dem majority in congress now.
