But as if all that wasn’t enough, one more thing can now be added to the list of childhood horrors: global warming. According to a survey of British children between the ages of seven and eleven, fully half are worried about it and many of them are actually losing sleep at night.

I remember when I was a kid during the '80s the media stories were about children being afraid of nuclear winter/nuclear obliteration. During the '70s I'm told the scare stories involved global famine and overpopulation. The Left's talent for hysterics doesn't change, only the subject matter does.

Children should be afraid of global warming like they are afraid of the Boogey Man. Until they realize that it isn't real.

This has happened before, actually. Britain doesn't produce milquetoasts as a rule, but occasionally the fashion leans that way. Thing is, the last time they really got squishy was way back in the 4th century. It led to the Anglo-Saxon invasion in force. Things got extremely bad for quite a while until missionaries could get some civilized sense into their heads.

So, there's hope. Let's just hope that this invasion isn't followed by the equivalent of what followed the Anglos onshore: the even more effective, brutal and murderous Danish invasion. Can't think of who that might be right now as I consider hostile Muslims entirely adequate as a brutal and murderous invasion force.

Note to all non-hostile Muslims: this obviously wouldn't apply to you, now, would it?

They learn all about it in their math books.

Yep - my kid's 5th grade math book had entire sections on global warming, the depletion of the rain forests, and other propaganda along the same lines.

Global Warming causes my hands to form into fists, my eyes to narrow in anger and gives me the urge to find a dem...any dem and "stick my boot up his ass, it's the American way..."

The global warming hysteria has reached levels I don't recall seeing before, even with the nuclear war and famine over-hyped issues you mentioned. It seems to me only a diversion from coming to terms with our real threat...global terror.

My neighbor has a kid in 6th grade. The Math teacher spends very little time on math. Mostly, he explains that the kids will likely die from high-fructose corn syrup. Or perhaps the kids will die from a giant asteroid hitting the Earth. Then again, their method of death could come from the super volcano underneath Yellowstone. Mind you, there are terrible diseases out there -- Bird Flu has been discussed.

And, yes, Global Warming is a frequent topic.

These are not casual asides. These are long lectures, in math class, about the impending death of Humanity -- because we deserve to die, because are all so stupid.

It's child abuse, as far as I'm concerned. But, you know, government schools do what they want. I tell my neighbor to get her kid out, but she says it's not that bad ...

Exactly. When I was a teen in the early 70's, they were preaching the overpopulation gospel and I bought into it. What a pathetic lie. They will preach anything to reach their goal of a one world government. That's really all they want. Just one big happy world with no countries or borders and no people either. Aaiiighhh.

I remember when Khadafy threatened the US. Our nineth grade history teacher spent an hour explaining the event and she beat into our brains that Libya is a gnat compared to the power of the US. We all left class relieved. May God bless that teacher. :)

An interesting poll inquiry would be "how many self-described liberals have globally-warmed sleepless kids as opposed to self-described conservative parents?"

In the late 70s I remember being under a wooden desk during a drill trying to figure out how this was going to protect me from an nuclear firestorm? Have the teachers really thought this one out? Are these desks special or something? Doesn't wood burn really well?
