Asian paper's "I Hate Blacks" column assailed

Tuesday, February 27, 2007 A San Francisco weekly newspaper that bills itself as "The Voice of Asian America" is facing harsh criticism from that very community for publishing a column Friday titled "Why I Hate Blacks." In the column, AsianWeek regular contributor Kenneth Eng listed "reasons" to discriminate against African Americans. The piece has been pulled from the newspaper's Web site, but the print edition of the free paper, owned by the politically influential Fang family, was still available in news racks Monday. Eng called himself an "Asian supremacist" in January in another installment of the column, which runs under the label "God of the Universe." Prominent Asian Americans immediately condemned Eng's current column. "The hate is based on ignorance and is very similar to the rationales that the KKK uses against African Americans," said Henry Der, director for 22 years of Chinese for Affirmative Action and the former state administrator for Emeryville's schools. "What gives me the greatest concern was AsianWeek's judgment in printing such a piece out of context," Der said. "It is so trite and hateful, it doesn't speak well for the publication." San Francisco NAACP President Amos Brown, who heard about the column from a Chronicle reporter, was speechless at first. "I can't believe this," Brown then said. "I am surprised the Fangs, who have supposedly been involved in interracial-understanding issues, would publish something like this. I am flabbergasted. We can't afford for these kind of racist flames to be fueled in that kind of setting." AsianWeek issued a statement regretting "any offense caused by the one opinion piece," and Editor in Chief Samson Wong declined further comment.

And the amazing thing? Someone actually still uses the term "flabbergasted" in casual conversation!

Could have been worse.

Could have been "gobsmacked"...

I read the article along with the ones titled "Why I hate Asians' and"Why I hate white people" or something to that affect. The guy is a moron but he got the response he wanted when he came at blacks. Whoever threw this fit proves his point about blacks and whites. I am sure this guy is laughing his bat off.

Eng's "Why I Hate Asians" is still on-line. The opening line is, "It seems like an odd title for an article written by an Asian Supremacist, but there are very good reasons why I hate many of my own kind."

His series of articles should have been titled, "I Am A Racist Idiot".

Add this one to the mix. Jews own the media, by some Korean guy.

'A best-selling comic book series that aims to teach South Korean children about foreign countries has caused an uproar in Korean American communities in the United States for containing anti-Semitic images.'

OK. So one can declare oneself an "Asian Supremicist" and continue to be published in a major free-paper in San Francisco. Declare yourself a "White Supremicist" and you will be charged with a hate crime, have your property taken from you by Morris Dees in a bogus lawsuit, and possibly get toasted by the BATF like a marshmellow.

Double standard anyone?

Being married to an Asian I know first hand that many Asians (not my sainted wife, of course) are extremely racist. Much of their racism is directed at the 'lesser' Asian races. (This works out as you'd expect: Japanese rate Japanese first, Chinese Ok, Koreans lower down and the southerners like Thai's at the bottom. Reverse if you are from Thailand or Japan.

So the whole idea of "Asian superiority" is funny to a lot of Asians who vehemently would disagree that they have anything in common with "those" Asians (Thais, Koreans, etc)

I think it's funny in a perverted kind of way. Is the guy really a "racist" or was he really trying to show that the concept of "free speech" actually doesn't exist? What are the "rules"? The various reactions say more about us as a society. An interesting social experiment on more than one level.

Question, would Archie Bunker be allowed on television in today's culture?

the author of the columns is an idiot racist-i was interested to see the Korean-American reaction to the Korean writing about how the "Joooos"control everything-where are the Blacks that condemn such race baiting human filth like Charles Barron, the New Black Panther party,or Louis Farrakhan, although the latter has toned it down somewhat in recent years-there is a reluctance among many Black people to speak against these turds for fear of being called an "Uncle Tom"-most Asians I've known who've come here from abroad work hard to learn English, are industrious, and don't live on other people's backs by sucking up welfare-but they also seem to be loyal to their original culture to an extent-nothing wrong with that-I have noticed though, that Asian prejudicial attitudes are largely directed at other Asians-I don't know any Japanese from Japan, just Japanese Americans who are like anyone else born here-I understand that Japanese in Japan are very dismissive of Koreans,Chinese,Southeast Asians, and even Japanese descended people from Brazil and Peru-there are definite tensions between Koreans and Blacks in New York and California-probably based on economic issues more than anything else, and then it extends into racial hatred-I am White with blood relatives very close to me who are Black,Hispanic, and Native American so I truly am disgusted by racial hatred-I just hate the ACLU,Hillary,Nancy Pelosi,Alan Dershowitz and the myriad other traitors to our constitional republic

"....where are the Blacks that condemn such race baiting human filth like Charles Barron, the New Black Panther party,or Louis Farrakhan...?

I'm fairly confident that they are restrained by the fear that both (NBP's and FOI's) will come after them in retaliation....sort of like the ME jihaddi's suppress whatever small number of "moderate muslims" that might exist....
