Rosa Brooks has got to be the lowest form of human life on the planet to denigrate true hero and MEDAL OF HONOR recipient Col. Bud Day.

DAY, GEORGE E.(Bud)

Rank and organization: Colonel (then Major), U.S. Air Force, Forward Air Controller Pilot of an F-100 aircraft. Place and date: North Vietnam, 26 August 1967. Entered service at: Sioux City, Iowa. Born: 24 February 1925, Sioux City, Iowa. Citation: On 26 August 1967, Col. Day was forced to eject from his aircraft over North Vietnam when it was hit by ground fire. His right arm was broken in 3 places, and his left knee was badly sprained. He was immediately captured by hostile forces and taken to a prison camp where he was interrogated and severely tortured. After causing the guards to relax their vigilance, Col. Day escaped into the jungle and began the trek toward South Vietnam. Despite injuries inflicted by fragments of a bomb or rocket, he continued southward surviving only on a few berries and uncooked frogs. He successfully evaded enemy patrols and reached the Ben Hai River, where he encountered U.S. artillery barrages. With the aid of a bamboo log float, Col. Day swam across the river and entered the demilitarized zone. Due to delirium, he lost his sense of direction and wandered aimlessly for several days. After several unsuccessful attempts to signal U.S. aircraft, he was ambushed and recaptured by the Viet Cong, sustaining gunshot wounds to his left hand and thigh. He was returned to the prison from which he had escaped and later was moved to Hanoi after giving his captors false information to questions put before him. Physically, Col. Day was totally debilitated and unable to perform even the simplest task for himself. Despite his many injuries, he continued to offer maximum resistance. His personal bravery in the face of deadly enemy pressure was significant in saving the lives of fellow aviators who were still flying against the enemy. Col. Day's conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of the U.S. Air Force and reflect great credit upon himself and the U.S. Armed Forces.

"Most of all, we've seen the Bush administration consistently place ideology over reality, remaining willfully blind to the fact that its ill-conceived war is making us less secure."

How so?

"...and breaking the back of the American military."

No, the left is breaking the military's back by politicizing the war.

Glad to do it. It's the best way to smack down Rosa Brooks, with the truth.

the right-wing goon squad whose defamatory insinuations helped sink John Kerry's presidential campaign?

If it was defamatory, why hasn't he sued?

Not to disagree with you ... but Colonel Day, MoH, certainly ranks right up there with John O'Neill as principled men of integrity!!

The b!tch who wrote the article is rather dismissive in relegating ANYONE who was critical of John Kerry as being reactionary and right-wing fringe lunatics. But Kerry still hasn't signed is SF180 - and still hasn't reconsile all the lies that Kerry and the Democrats spin.

The Swift Boat Veterans are also honorable people! I thank them for their work!

Mike

When you lose an election, blame it on the lack of intelligence of the voters."

Isn't that the truth. The "Reality Based Community" is so much smarter than everyone else. People who run around telling everyone how smart they are are like guys who brag about how many hot babes they get each week.

The Swiftboat men were not extremists, they simply had a story to tell that the media and Democrats didn't want to hear. They didn't even seem to have an idealogy, but they did have the truth and facts on their side. And that's rather "inconvenient" for some it seems!

What's depressing about the reemergence of the Swifties, though, is that it's symbolic of the increasing takeover of the "conservative" movement by unprincipled, right-wing extremists.

You mean depressing to you liberals. Us conservatives take joy in seeing this revival. Our joy is your anger. Anger at the outting of liberal lies dirty politics. I think I need some popcorn for this one.

You'll never see this in greater display than in Manhattan with the upper east side liberals. Hillary voters ground zero.

They live in this small pampered enclave of million dollar condos, screwing around with each others wives and husbands, kids raised by foreign nannys, and anytime the ultra limousine liberal democrats lose an election, its "oh these morons voting for republicans JUST DON'T GET IT...." at the dinner table and parties.

>>>Swift Boat II: The Sequel" will have a different ending from "Swift Boat I" because Americans just aren't that dumb.<<<

Yes, they are. Just look at our duly elected Congress.

The Swift Boat guys fought bravely in Vietnam, and it is a sad comment on the U.S. that they still have to fight on today. Rosa Brooks is the mouthpiece of the new enemy, the Dhimmis who lick the boots of the Muslim Jihadis.

I saw that - but I think O'Neil held his own with the crypt-keeper Colmes! I suspect they have instituted some rules about time for each side. Otherwise I think Hannity would just talk all the time.

I think Colmes talking over O'Neill is a sign of desperation because it was obvious he didn't want to hear the facts from O'Neill. Hey, they're guests H&C - let's hear from them.

God bless the Swift Boat Vets!

It is amazing that a person could get so many medals in such a short time without spending a single night in a hospital bed.

Release the SF180 Jon Cary!

It's the DD form 180, DD = Department of Defense.
This isn't even good propaganda it is so poorly written. There is no support from any source to even begin to support the socialist lies of this author.
It is obvious they know nothing about war, how it is fought and that casualties will and do occur.
No one likes to see our young men and women sacrifice their life and limb for anything but these young people have made the choice themselves. Why can't they pay attention to what our heroes are saying.
The socialist left picks out the minuscule minority of dissenters and try to prop up the lie that our troops are disillusioned with the war when what they are really ticked off about is the dimwit politicians who are sounding off against them. The troops want to finish the job and they would really like the CS democratic politicians to support them. The left better start watching the polls again too, the true and real polls that are showing that the American people aren't at all happy with the progressive socialist left that are following the Frisco doctrine of cut and run like a Frenchman. Only the total moronic stupidity of the "Frisco" mentality can think that losing a war is somehow better than winning, but that is where Nancy and her crew of idiots are. Nancy, the head socialist, is running around in circles trying to figure out a way to lose the war that our people will swallow. That isn't going to happen. The senate has been put on notice that Joe will jump ship if they mess with the war funding or take shots at President Bush. Isn't politics fun?????
