The Real Rudy
Newsweek ^ | 3/4/07 | Susannah Meadows, Mark Hosenball, Michael Isikoff, Eve Conant, Sarah Childress, Andrew Romano and Jo

Rudy Giuliani had been speaking for six minutes before anyone in the audience thought to clap, which was exactly the way he wanted it. Talking to a political crowd in North Spartanburg, S.C., last month, the former New York City mayor and 2008 presidential candidate was not there to excite but to warn; he was less interested in making political promises than he was in sketching out the perils we face. He spoke in the hushed tones of the day that marked him for history, September 11, 2001, his voice barely filling the somber setting—not a hotel ballroom or a church basement, but a firehouse, festooned with American flags.

Duncan Hunter is all talk. No leadership.

Thats not fair.

He can lead a pen across the taxpayers checkbook.

Could you post a list of Giuliani's foreign policy accomplishments? I just can't seem to find it anywhere.

Hunter spends taxpayer money like a drunk sailor and can't even manage his own finances.

Duncan is just a novelty candidate and nothing more.

rooddeee is the Ross Perot of 2008.....the difference is he's sporting an "R", instead of a phony "I".

Give a little time on that when He's POTUS he will have plenty.

But I did like him kicking out Arafat and telling the Saudi to shove his 10 mill.....also b-slapping the UN after 9/11 tells me as POTUS don't expect any apology tours ...ala bubba.... from Rudy.

Richard Land, president of the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention: "President Truman said he would never hire someone who cheated on his wife, because if a person breaks his marriage oath he could also break his oath of office."

Agree, if you are unfaithful to your oaths, and breach Covenant when things get rough, you are lower than a snake's belly, and (short of repentance) to be trusted again. period.

So the sum total of his foreign experience is 2 instances of insulting foreign dignitaries?

Looks like ya got a real 'winner' there!

none of which is qualifications on fighting terrorism.

And the "he can beat hillary" mantra is laughable. It assumes that hillary will be the dem's candidate in 2008. What happens if it's not hillary? Can rudy beat EVERYBODY, making him an invincible candidate?

Run a liberal republican against a conservative talking democrat - or even worse, a conservative talking democrat from the south - and watch disaster ensue.

I disagree...as Dennis Miller who has endorsed Rudy said "He's the man that the men in the caves don't want to be president"

Your position matrix so misstates Hillary's current position on Iraq and the WOT, I can only assume that you are a Hillary pimp or brain dead.

Your graphic claims Hillary's position on Iraq is the same as Rudy... Says she "Supports - voted for it".

Yea... and she used to be twelve years old, but she isn't now.

And the Patriot Act... What a laugh

This is the kind of dopy and disingenuous posting that make me question Hunter just due to his most vocal supporters.

I've not made a decision to support Rudy or any other candidate yet. However stuff like this does not progress the discussion.

"Your graphic claims Hillary's position on Iraq is the same as Rudy... Says she "Supports - voted for it"."

No, it doesn't, that's why the colors are different and the disclaimer is there.

Hillary recently (post creation of the chart) flip-flopped. As has Rudy, to a minute degree, on partial-birth abortion. Hopefully spiff can annotate the chart to reflect that recent shift. Until then, here is more of Rudy:

How many US Attorney's have been killed by the mob? And how about that Kerik partner? Can you say CORRUPT?

This is impossible! The Rudycrats have been telling us for weeks now that "the liberal media HATES Rudy," "the media is afraid Rudy can beat Hillary," etc. Actually the Left is hedging its bets. If they can't elect their first choice, Hillary or Hussein, they will settle for Rudy. Abortion, gun control, "campaign finance reform," open borders, and global warming hysteria will be safe either way.
