A new documentary, directed by filmmaker Martin Durkin, rejects the concept of man-made climate change, calling it "a lie ... the biggest scam of modern times."
The truth, says Durkin, is that global warming is a multibillion-dollar worldwide industry, created by fanatically anti-industrial environmentalists, supported by scientists peddling scare stories to chase funding, and propped up by compliant politicians and the media.
According to one of the filmmaker's experts, paleontologist professor Ian Clark of the University of Ottawa:
Global warming could be caused by increased activity on the sun, such as massive eruptions. Ice-core samples from Antarctica show that, in fact, warmer periods in Earth's history have come about 800 years before rises in carbon dioxide levels. Clark's findings appear to contradict the work of other scientists, who have used similar ice-core samples to illustrate that raised levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere have accompanied the various global warming periods.
"The fact is that (carbon dioxide) has no proven link to global temperatures," says Durkin. "Solar activity is far more likely to be the culprit."
Scientists in the documentary cite what they claim is another discrepancy involving conventional research:
Most of the recent global warming occurred before 1940, after which temperatures around the world fell for four decades. They view this as a flaw because the worldwide economic boom that followed the end of World War II produced more carbon dioxide, and therefore should have meant a rise in global temperatures -- something he says did not happen. That's for sure. Al Gore already equated anybody who questioned the validity of global warming with holocaust deniers and big tobacco execs.
Please don't confuse me with factual data.

The Pirates are already here,only now they are selling Carbon credits. Aye Aye Capt'n Gore.
And promoted by financiers trying to make a buck in trading the non-product product of 'carbon credits,' global socialists who want to impose a socio-economic system to control American wealth and property, and communists who see it as a method of wealth redistribution.
And that industry is attempting to effect a wealth transfer that staggers the imagination. It will, in their minds, help to level the perceived "mis-application" of prosperity.
The glaring failures of Marxism do not stop their march. Only History shows what it takes to stop them. There's no doubt, this is the prelude to war.
Come on...get on board. This carbon-credit game sounds like fun to me...will be like investing in gamer's invisible weapons or such. You can drive the price of carbon credits up or down...just by adding a new model or new Kyoto rule. We could stir up the whole world economic situation and gets lots of hot babes with this game. And if a guy were really smart...he'd go in right now with $100 mil...and buy a bunch of cheap carbon-credits from Tonga...and just sit on them. The big guys will be desperate later for Tonga carbon-credits and we can make a killing on the sales.
And the best part...we've got this game lined up in ten years...called "global cooling". We are trying to keep a lid on this...but when the time is right...we will open up this project and carbon-debates for sale. These people will be lined up to buy them as soon as you open up the front door. Bunch of dimwits...who never even ask questions...just accept everything on the network as the truth. Well...we might as well make some hot cash off them.

There was another thread around here somewhere yesterday about Mars heating up as well -indicating increased solar activity instead of manmade catastrophe.
If you look at the data points very closely, it seems that the actual correlation of C02 and global temperature trends are opposite of the popular myths. Instead of higher C02 levels producing "warming" they seem to reflect the following edge of global temperature trends, not lead them. It is most readily seen in the "cooling" side of the temperature cycle where a C02 "high" always continues for some period in the face of a cooling off period that has already begun, which eventually seems to produce, not reflect, lower C02 levels.
Currently, in spite of still rising C02 levels, global temperatures peaked nine years ago, in 1998.
The reality may be that we are in fact heading into a cooling-off period that will continue, and precede, a lowering of C02 levels.
