Arnold Schwarzenegger "The People's Governor" as his official press release proclaims spoke recently to the National Press Club and graciously offered our nation's leaders some lessons from his successful "post-partisan" leadership in California. It is an elegant concept, built upon the works of the great philosopher Rodney King when he posed the age-old question of human existence: "Can't we all just get along?"
While modestly noting that he didn't claim to be Gandhi, the People's Governor recounted the remarkable policy breakthroughs that he has achieved simply by inviting Democratic leaders to "come by, light up a stogie and schmooze."
The National Press Club sat spellbound as the People's Governor described how he "schmoozed" California's liberal Democrats into hiking the minimum wage into the stratosphere, embarking upon the biggest borrowing binge in state history and imposing the most draconian regulations in the country to save the planet from global warming.

I'm laughing too. What a joke!
Ahnuld is a grade one disaster for the conservatives in my state. It is hard to envision how we will ever recover.
A bit full of himself I see.
LOL Good job Tom McClintock.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
The RINO-nator speaks.
A people's governor for the people's republic of kalifornia.
Soon to be North Mexico.
hope he don't hurt his shoulder patting himself on the back...
"Today, California has no political divisions to speak of."
Which is true, the left never listens to the right but the right must always listen to the left.
Arnold has gone pretty quiet with his carbon credits he pays Al Gores company. He made such a big deal announcing it until someone actually looked into it.
Sadly Arnold continues to press his agenda that government fees are not taxes and mandated government payments are contributions.
"Can't we all just get along?"
NO!
aRnie's version of Camelot is a cheap remake of JFK's... laden in special effects.. and Kennedys.
"Soon to be North Mexico".
Where have you been? We've been there for at least a decade or two.
McClintock Ping!
Ain't post-partisanship grand? Grand theft, fraud and collusion, maybe.
Thanks!

Thank you for the ping.
The gloves are off, and now it looks like the same is being played out on a nat'l scale, with conservative promises.
I wish McC had been able to be this blunt during the last campaign.
Ask not for whom the guv extols,
He extols for thee!
11th Commandment and all that jazz.
If the GOP candidates follow that hogwash, this country will suffer.
Discussion of an opponent's positions on issues should not be supressed.
I will look to candidates that speak truth and not PC propaganda.
It looks like Tom agrees with you!
For the most part, I think he always has.
Unfortunately, he was villified for it.
How dare one speak ill of King Arnold?
What a fustercluck.

Da peepul's guv'na, meet America's mayor.
America's mayor, meet da peepul's gov'na.
LOL May the farce be with you.
BTTT
The author was essentially AWOL on the issue of liberal Republicans after his defeat in 2003. During that critical period of it's incubation, the Senator stood by in relative silence and let this parasite grow. When this aberration had reached maturity and sought reaffirmation, based on it's own record, the Senator not only continued his silence, but actually let his name be used to further the deceptions.
Contrary to some on this thread, I see no courage or valor in the publication of these insights today. I simply see self aggrandizement. I see the public posturing of another political hack of the conservative sort. Had these statements been issued in the spring and summer of 2006 they would have been courageous. Today they are not.
Had the Senator spoken out last year he still would not have been Lt. Governor today, but the Austrian may not have been governor. Angelides was certainly not fit to lead this state and his reign of incompetence would have been short lived and survivable but the fact remains "One of them can destroy the Republican Party from the inside as its new leader".
"remarkable policy breakthroughs"?
Must be code for a turncoat who goes over to the other side. Or one who was already on the other side to start with...
If the comment referenced the Austrian, it's the latter from the perspective of FR. The complication for some Freepers is the definition of the other side, especially those Republican partisans who have sought haborage on this forum.
That is not to say that the acceptance of self definition will be the death knell of this form. On the contrary, FR would be quite monotonous if we relied solely on Democrat liberals to act as foils. Democrat liberals bring feelings, not facts, to these discussions. Republican liberals bring partisan pragmatism, not governing principles. Of the two, I prefer the debate with those who should have known better.
You sure do blather on ...
California is the first post-American state. No offence to CA freepers.
