I tap and monitor wifi hosts on my network all the time. What are you talking about?

"however, ANYTHING sent over the Internet is NOT private"

"what if I don't use my true identity?

That's a good first step. Realize that every machine on the Internet has a unique address and can be traced to the machine. Thus "onyx eyes" is your alias, but your signal comes from 192.111.32.11 and these is a PC located on 123 Main St. in Escondido CA.

"and next, didn't they come up with a way for the party-line to go off into nonexistence?"

I don't know what you mean by this. The Internet was designed to be redundant and to survive and nuclear war. An attack on any segment will just bring down that segment.

People who expect privacy on the Internet don't understand how it works.

BINGO ! We have a winner !

Every packet could be routed through a goobermint supercomputer, for that matter. Thanks for your intelligent post.
