In World War II, it wasn't just young men who gave their all. It was women and children. It was W.A.C.s, W.A.S.P.s, and Rosie the Riveter. Kids collected scrap rubber and aluminum for recycling into aircraft parts. There were War Bonds and Civil Air Patrols. The whole nation joined the fight, convinced they'd be speaking German or Japanese if we didn't defeat Nazi tyranny or Japanese Imperialism.
Now we have The Cindy Sheehan Traveling Circus, and Dick Durbin equating the interrogation techniques of US troops to those of Nazi Germany and the Khmer Rouge. We have John Murtha calling Marines "cold-blooded" murderers, and the President of the United States calling citizens who patrol the border during wartime "vigilantes."
Timothy Leary, LSD, and Give Peace a Chance have done more damage to this country than anything in it's entire existence. When the Baby Boomers who answered their country's call in the jungles of Southeast Asia finally did come home, they were spat upon and called all sorts of vile things by their peers. Ironically, there are now yearly reunions in Canada for those who were "brave" enough to refuse orders and flee north.

Just thought it was an interesting contrast that the bravery and other traits of those who died by the hundreds of thousands to defeat the Axis in WWII that seem so necesary to win a global conflict do not seem to have been retained by their children...
That's not to say that simply dying by the thousands is a desirable thing, but you can't deny the article's basic premise.
Even after we wake up I don't believe that things are going to be any better unless we unify, which will never happen again. Our emphasis on diversity will prevent us from uniting again.
Does anyone really think that we will be able to trust the many millions of Muslims already in the country? But not to worry; after all they are members of the ROP.
LOL. My father was stationed in the Aleutians. He wasn't a commie by any means, but he was a punk. I didn't know this little tidbit of info about who was stationed there.
We have a lot of Muslim allies, too.
The "Balkanization" of the US began in the 60's and continues unabated. You could very well be right, making the differences between those 2 generations even more apparent.
I can't help but think that since this nation has started taking God out of EVERYTHING, it all turned to poo. In God We Trust is no longer and now we're screwed.
We've lost the ability to discern truth. We're ripe for the pickings.
No Muslim worth his salt will cooperate of collaborate with Infidels. The fundamentals of the religion forbid this. What we have is Muslim heretics who can't abide by the teachings of their faith and the example set by Muhammad. The people are more interested in worldly things than spiritual things and getting along with Infidel scum is just fine with these people.
Just about every religion suffers from people who claim to be of the religion but want to pick and chose the articles of faith to suit their worldly lifestyles.
The Muslims who become infidel collaborators can't stand up to the Wahabbis who teach the religion as written, and lived by Muhammad. Don't befriend Infidels, enslave convert or kill them. That is the fundamentals of the religion.
Don't take my word. Listen to them, and read the Koran and Hadiths. - tom
I disagree fully completely and totally.
As an adult, I dont need my hand held or constant "how to" speeches by some figure head. We are at war. That's all I need to know. Everything after that is up to me. If I cant get my arse off the couch and do something useful then I am to blame and no one else.
If I am so weak and feckless that I fall constant prey to idiotic, moronic and grossly simplistic propaganda produced by those that support our enemy, then I am the betrayer.
If I am so ignorant in how things work and clueless on cause and effect that malicious manipulators can cause me to run around screaming "the sky is falling, the sky is falling" every time there's some logistics glitch or a bad day at the war front, then I am the worthless one.
If I am so degenerate and inbred in my world view that I can side with the agitators and enemy propagandists then I am the traitor.
If I am so afraid of hostile public opinion, that I can witness treason and not call it such for fear of being accused of "questioning their patriotism" then I am the coward.
If I am any of that listed above, then I am the one fit only for a traitors death and no amount of speechifying is going to fix that. If I am not any of the above then no amount of speechifying is going to make me any more solid in supporting my own during a time of war.
You're right. And he's pissed...
Too bad we ALL have to suffer because of these people. Is that what they say? It was a MISTAKE? Last I checked, mistakes are something that WASN'T done on purpose. His wrath will NOT be pretty!
Tell that to the Iraqis.
"When communists or other unreliables were drafted, they were often shipped to the Aleutian Islands to keep them from agitating, disrupting, or otherwise interfering with the war effort. It was also the dumping ground for individuals who discussed classified information when drunk and other such sins."
Do you have some more info on this? I like to look into it, because I knew a guy like that....he sat out WWII in the aleuts and was also what I judged to be a real commie, and he was also a "recovering alcoholic". He's pushing up daisies now.
Why? The entire government was controlled by Democrats. There would have been no reason to do that.
Here here... you have stated a line of truth WE ALL must heed.... I still believe our government is not going to be able to save us once the fight does come here.....
And it will come here. Take your lessons everyone, learn self-defense and how to shoot. We will be the ONLY one's who can protect us. We WILL see this occur in our generation. BE PREPARED!
Stunning stuff! I just printed it out in bold type and taped it to my office wall!! Thanks.
The quote is from Livy's own introduction to his Early History of Rome.
I have met several WWII Aleutian vets. I can assure you that not all of them were "punks". Many fought valiantly and thanklessly in the "forgotten front".
That is exactly why so many Iraqis are being killed. Any so-caled Muslim who wants to introduce democracy will be on the Wahabbi hit list. - tom
In part, because teaching school was a deferment from the draft. There was a great need for teachers at the same time as the Vietnam War escalated, because of the baby boom (the same boom which supplied so many soldiers to the military). Pacifist male boomers made teaching their career choice, in order to avoid service, and thus were in a position to indoctrinate their students for the next 30 + years. Same with grad student deferments that led to professorships. Their students have gone on to continue the leftist indoctrination.
The moral of the story is don't make any occupation a deferment from a military draft unless you want to drive leftie pacifists to that particular career.
