>> This is an excerpt from the new issue of Rolling Stone, on newsstands until March 22nd.
Deep in a maze of adobe-colored huts at the Hyatt Grand Champions Resort conference center in Indian Wells, California, men in polo shirts are striding to 8:30 a.m. meetings. Most are gathering to debate recent advances in re-wetting drops for contact lenses -- "I have superior lens technology to Bob, I know that," one man jabbers, croissant in hand -- but beyond the golf course, in a hut with a majestic plaque reading villa capri, six Viacom employees huddle over coffee on polka-dotted chairs. This is the secret corporate retreat for Comedy Central's most popular, antinomian and flat-out awesomest show: South Park...

I love Southpark. They've got the guts to confront political correctness.
Please put my on the south park ping list. thanks.
only if Comedy Central lets them put it on
"We should give the homeless designer sleeping bags and really nice clothes so they're pleasant to look at".
These guys really have the liberals pegged.
Who annoys you?
n-ggars
naggers....LOL
Spot on. I love how they kick the Politically Correct in the teeth.
"... I can say things like 'fudge-packing faggot'...."
What's everyone mad at Ann Coulter about now?
I find the timing curious that Rolling Stone magazine has this feature article on South Park, and Youtube just recently pulled most of their original South Park content.
Kyle: Now are you a team player or not?
Butters: Well sure, I'm a team player, I guess.
Kyle:Well Butters, there is no "I" in team.
Butters:You mean to expect me to go out there and let all those horny old men have their way with my fragile person? Well, just what team is this anyway?
Kyle:Get going Butters, we're running out of time.
Butters:Well, uh alright then.
Kyle:He, he's a dumb ---.
Butters:Alright men, here I come. I'm ready to take one for the team.
Poor "Old Cracker".
He went and got himself banned... Now he can't insult and deride other people for watching cartoons he doesn't like.
Terrific article! I wish I could quote the last page of it, but I can't! Still good though.
Maybe if they keep running articles about South Park, they'll get their readership back.
It is sick and offensive.
You're on! :)
I love it too.
Hilarious and dead on nailing PC crap to the wall.
And funny as hell. :)
If these South Park writers reflect the thinking of their age group then "political correctness" may be doomed.
"I wish I could quote the last page of it, but I can't!"
The last two paragraphs are priceless!
I thought from the headline that Rolling Stone was about to go all moral on us--their version of moral, of course. I'm glad to see they didn't.
Yes, they are... and still unquotable... folk will have to go read for themselves. :~)
"The NAMBLA episode is a classic and one of my all time favorites!"
Wasn't this the episode about the North American Marlon Brando Lookalikes?
Butters looks nothing like Marlon Brando.
Oh, sure, he says it and gets a 10th season. Ann Coulter says it and 90 newspapers cancel her column. What's up with that??
TS
8-P
Yes, it is. And I love it!!!
CC knows that there are about six dozen other networks chomping at the bit for South Park. Spike, Bravo, Cartoon Network, HBO, Starz, and several others would jump at the chance to get the show if CC gets too invasive.
The eleventh season started this week. That explains both.
Different audience.
It sounds like the author of the article kind of understands them but still is offended by them. He's like one of those constipated Nixon-loving types back in the 60's who didn't "get it".
And you probably watch every episode.
NRA forever!
No, I've watched maybe three. I found all of them to be in bad taste.
Love those guys.
True. Most thinking people don't read newspapers.
Or run them.
It is rude, crude, obnoxious, and gross. It "feels" like a liberal show, but it is an anti-PC Trojan Horse. It is LOADED with anti-liberal messages. Much more so than anti-conservative ones, though it does skewer the Social Right as well. I'll take it for the former, even if I have to endure the latter.
Man Bear Pig....
They basically skewer anyone from any side whenever there's a joke to be made! If you can't laugh at yourself, and at the extremes of your own side, then you shouldn't laugh at anyone else!
So many forums around have people my age (20s) thinking they're being subversive by saying Bush sucks. 'I know people are gonna come and get me for saying this, and I know it's going against the crowd to say this, but I think Dubya is Satan and he is destroying the world with his ebil and OMG that's right he's dumb LOL.'
You are not being subversive, you silly f**ks. Do the eighty-billion agreements tacked on to your post make you think you are? Or are you and your eighty-billion new-found subversive friends gonna get together down at the coffee shop to smoke cloves together and talk about how The Man is bringing you down?
Once again, as in my teenhood, South Park is a ghastly thing to watch, for all the 'wrong' reasons. So I do. Woohoo!
The "f**k this f**k that" magazine?
Blasphemy is all stench and skank.
When Team America came out libs went nuts; "these guys have sold out BIG time" (they felt it was too far to the right).
One of the SP creators has been quoted as saying "We hate
conservatives but we really f---in' hate liberals."
That is likely unrelated - Viacom who owns Comedy Central is in an ongoing war with Google.
>>Google was slammed today by a demand from Viacom to remove over 100,000 MTV, Daily Show, SouthPark BET and other copyrighted materials. This comes after months of failed negotiations between the two companies to find a way for Google to compensate Viacom for this content. According to Viacom, he clips in question have been viewed over 1 billion times.<<
I remember the quote. I think that was Matt Stone.
Blasphemy?
>>Don't tell me this is ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE -- criticizing anyone for not ascribing to standards of decency?
The "f**k this f**k that" magazine?<<
Hmmm.
Rolling Stone is upset that the commercial would include the letters "n*ggers" when the it did not spell the "n word" but they did not complain about the episode that was censored for daring to show Mohammed's image while the image of pooping on the American flag was not censored.
RS, like much of America has their priorities out of whack and South Park does a great job of pointing that out.
