Jennifer Siebel may be waiting for her big break in Hollywood, but in the hothouse world of San Francisco politics, she has already been cast -- as Mayor Gavin Newsom's leading lady.
For the past six months, the actress, who has been linked in the past to Oscar winner George Clooney, has been shuttling back and forth between her West Hollywood digs and San Francisco, which she has been visiting with increased frequency to promote her business endeavors -- and visit her boyfriend, the 39-year-old politician with movie star looks and soaring approval numbers, despite the recent revelations about his personal problems.
In an interview, Siebel, 32, proved surprisingly open, agreeing to talk not only about her new movie, whose ironically apt title is "The Trouble With Romance,'' but also about her life, why she elected to pursue a film career over her family's objections and how she felt about being put in the public spotlight as the City Hall sex scandal involving Newsom and a former aide unfolded. She did not know Newsom when the events occurred but has been at his side during the fallout.
As she sat in Rose's Cafe on Union Street, the blond actress-producer, dressed in a black Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress (that she bought for 60 percent off -- struggling actresses can't afford designer clothes!) and Cole Haan boots, talked about her roles, both on and off the silver screen.
In "The Trouble With Romance,'' which premiered last weekend at the Cinequest Film Festival 2007 in San Jose and will play at the San Francisco Asian American Film Festival on Friday,... plays Jill, a woman with intimacy issues

Maybe it's just a poor photograph, but she doesn't even look basically pretty to me. Thin lips, bad nose, "I hate being here" smile, and her hair is a horrible color.
I hope she and Newsome are very happy together.
She looks nice but not pretty. Then again, what do I know? IMHO Julia Roberts isn't pretty at all, and most people think that's nuts. (Twp women who've acted alongside Michael Douglas are my idea of pretty: Kathleen Turner and Catherine Zeta-Jones).

Her uncle is the founder of Siebel which he sold to Oracle. Her family (and I assume her) are rolling in the dough.
Anytwosome Newsome only likes socialites, for the most part, and blondes for the most part, outside of his ex-wife.
I think when he was younger he went for brunettes, but he had a bad time with them (one socialite left him for Don Johnson), and Kim had some issues (allegedly cheating and allegedly drugging, but it's just an unsubstantiated rumor that I heard from someone who worked in his office).
So, he's off of brunettes, and only has been linked to blondes lately.

I've never understood the appeal of Julia Roberts, either. Of course, she's not trying to appeal to me :-).
