Giuliani Pitches Himself as a Can-Do Candidate (Dennis Miller calls Pelosi and Obey Morons!)
NY Sun ^ | 3/15/07 | Jill Gardiner

Mayor Giuliani, considered a front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, says America needs to expand its military and pitched himself as the candidate who would instill fear in the Iranian president.

"What I can do is get things done, accomplish things," the former mayor told a crowd of about 1,000 supporters at a baseball-themed fund-raiser at the Sheraton in Midtown last night. "People said New York was ungovernable. We governed it and it became the best example of urban renaissance."

Saying he is "impatient and singled-minded" about his goals, he told the crowd that he'd bring the same focus to the White House to lower taxes, reduce spending, achieve energy independence, and improve international relations. He said the country needs a "bigger military" that can handle both large attack and "multiple complex limited actions," and said it was time to capture Osama bin Laden.

Mr. Giuliani was introduced by comedian Dennis Miller, who used at least one expletive when joking about the lack of trustworthy evidence to back up claims of global warming. In a performance that felt something like an HBO standup special, Mr. Miller also called two Democrats, including the speaker of the House of Representatives, "morons" and "inconsequential people who don't take the threat to our culture seriously."

"When you watch morons like Nancy Pelosi and David Obey of Wisconsin discussing our pullout from Iraq, the other day, they make like eight errors in four seconds," the comedian said ...

On foreign policy, he said the nation must exhaust every avenue to stop the Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, from getting a nuclear weapon, an idea he declared unacceptable. He did not call explicitly for military action, but seemed to suggest that he would be more willing to use it than his Democratic rivals. "I believe it has a better chance of working if he believes that he has a president who will not under any circumstances allow Iran to have nuclear weapons," he said.

Good for you Rudy!

Rudy did an excellent job of disarming law-abiding New York citizens, so I have no doubt that he will be as effective against Iran.

And they'll even get Gay Pride marches when he's through with them !!!

Your Giuliani theads have convinced me: I wasn't going to vote if Rudy got the GOP nomination, but now I am sure I will vote for anyone at all who opposes him. Anyone.

OH YEAAA RIIIIGHT! Tell that to all my friends who had guns during Rudy's term as mayor and still have them. I guess they didn't know that Rudy came in the middle of the night and grabbed them. (/sarcasm)

Oh by the way - every Mayor of NYC marches in the Gay Pride Parade. It's tradition. They may not like it but they have to do it. YOU apparently don't understand what it is to be Mayor of a large city with a huge gay population.

I'm sure that is fine with Rudy - the way the polls are going - he won't need your vote. But you can vote for Hillary or Obama - that's your choice. I'm sure you will enjoy hitting the lever for Democrat.

So I take it you'd rather have an Iran that's dangerously armed and stifles freedom to the point that 20 year olds sign up to come to America and blow us up?

We should be so lucky to have a disarmed Iran where individuals are allowed to live and let live.

So, in short, he's using the same weasel language as Hillary. Wonderful.

That would be a great reply, if only he had said that he didn't want the US to attack Iran. He sarcastically implied that Rudy would either not attack or do a poor job of doing so.

Look, if you're going to attack people's arguments, attack the ones they're making, not the ones you wish they were making.

"I like Dennis Miller, I'd probably vote for him before Rudy..."

Me too, although I am concerned about Dennis' recent lack of common sense.

Oh well, I don't require a perfect candidate.

And you would like a potential candidate to say "We will blow Iran to kingdom come?" Sorry but that won't happen. No candidate will say that on the campaign trail. Do you know how fast the MSM will throw that candidate in the gutter if he did? Rudy would not think twice about attacking Iran. One thing Rudy is not afraid of is terrorists (as he showed when he threw Arafat out on his A$$) or terrorists nations.

Well, that's my definition of Strength and Leadership -- a person who does what he does because he has to.

And when he is forced to back down on Iran, he'll do that as well, because that's what we do?

Mayors are also forced to support lawsuits against gun manufacturers, sponsor parties for liberal organizations, and speak kindly to NARAL. And appoint liberal judges.

Wow. Imagine how bad it would be if someone who DIDN'T have strength and leadership were to be mayor of New York -- oh, I guess it wouldn't be much different since the Mayor is forced to do all those things anyway.

Rudy -- Don't blame me, they MADE me do it.

I am already sick of them.

Let me tell you - George Bush and Ronald Reagan got elected because as Governors they were able to work with Democrats as well as Republicans. If you don't understand that by now you would never make a good politician.

- Rudy tossed Arafat out of a city sponsored celebrations saying, "I would rather not have someone who has been implicated in the murders of Americans there, if I have the discretion not to have him there”.
