Believing he was doing God's will, a Texas man early yesterday picked up a rock and fatally beat a 75-year-old former Soviet dissident and prison camp survivor who had stopped by a New Jersey Turnpike service area for refreshments, State Police said.

It's on the books, but no one in NJ has been put to death since the law was enacted after
Gregg v. Georgia.Besides, the killer is obviously insane - a Christian gone off the deep end.

Let me know if the "God made me do it" defense works for this guy, there are a few people I know who need to meet a rock face-first.
Seriously, though, it is sad. Especially since this guy was a Soviet dissenter. Of course, that means the MSM probably won't cover this story since they love to prop up communist thug leaders.

protestants who 'missionize' in the FSU routinely try to convince orthodox Christians that they are non-Christians why? Because protestants beleive themselves 'chosen by God'.

That is simply not true. You are basically saying that all Protestants are murderous at heart. That's just plain delusional.
"protestants who 'missionize' in the FSU routinely try to convince orthodox Christians that they are non-Christians why?"
Protestants also "missionize" other Protestants because salvation is not by association with some group (Protestant, Catholic, Orthodox or other) but via a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It is entirely possible to be "religious" or "Christian" but to not know Christ.
"Because protestants believe themselves 'chosen by God'."
No. Because they want other to know God and want to give them every chance to do so. How can you find fault with that ?
To: The Blitherer; Forest Keeper
ok how about if i only lump protestant 'missionaries' who travel to devote orthodox nations at attempt to proselytize them in with this guy? (granted they don't kill people they just convince them to sign away their life's possessions and abanonded their families on their deathbed so that young protestant 'real christians' can receive them instead)

I'v read your other posts on this thread and it seems that you have a bone to pick with missionaries, not with all protestants.
Even so, if you thought that without your evangilizing, someone would go to he!!, wouldn't you say something?

What do Marx, Nietzsche, Freud, and Weber have in common? From what I'm reading this morning, "they all have the common concern to uncover values as masks for interest, conflict, and instinct. . . So we hear of ideology as determined by class and situation; of culture as the superstructure of the relations of production; of the ethical justification of action as a rationalization of desires and interest; and of the spirit as the sublimation of instinct.

To: Just another Joe
it certainly seems identical to the attitude of all protestants who hypocritically argue for scripture but ignore the parts they don't like. (for instance head covering and no women preachers).
I am quite sure that the poor Russian who was murdered by this guy let the guy know he was a Christian and had no need to listen to any CDs.
It irks protestants that there's actual Christians out there that dont need a singing club or reading group to know Christ.

Which god told him to kill the guy? Don't know. But clearly the guy considered himself a Christian,or at least his mother did...
But White's mother, Laverne Cavitt, doubted her son could have killed another. "He's a Christian guy. He made lots of Christian CDs. My son has never been involved in anything," Cavitt told the Associated Press, her voice trailing off into sobs.
To: Dr. Eckleburg
go tell that to my grandfather in law who's forced to live with his nice after 'baptists' convinced his mother on her death bed to give everything she owned to the baptist church and to forget about her family so that 20-something 'good baptists' could live in her abode instead.

To: drpix
one minute protestants are refusing head covering (1 Coritnhians 11), and promoting women preachers (violating 1 Corinthians 14, which mentions both are the commandments of God), the next they're suggesting that non-protestants are worthy of death. (ignoring other commandments).
once you start tossing out scripture to justify whatever you feel like there's no end to it.

Again tell that to my grandfather in law. He lives on a 15 dollar a month pension, and the most valuable inheritance he had was given to a single 'good baptist' instead of to his family. Why? Because 'Christians' conned his mother out of it on her deathbed.
Its important to look at missionaries as it shows how protestants act when social boundries don't keep them in check.
