Ya gotta love this from the New York Times:

"As they gathered before the march, the protesters met what several veterans of the antiwar movement described as an unusually large contingent of several hundred counterdemonstrators. Many were veterans in biker jackets who said they had come to protect the nearby Vietnam Memorial, citing rumors that had circulated among veterans groups that the demonstrators planned to deface it...."

and

"Crossing the bridge toward the Pentagon, the marchers met another group of about 50 counterdemonstrators by the Arlington Cemetery, one holding a sign that said: “Go to hell traitors. You dishonor our dead on hallowed ground.”"

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/18/us/18protest.html

(I guess these particular veterans of the anti-war movement can't count.)

Come on, Freema, you were just all wound up because you got to rub all those young Marines on the head :)

One thing that just occurred to me. I've never felt so safe and at ease around a crowd as large as that, ever.

LOL! More like 'several' tens of thousands of us.

The 'rumors' of defacement attempts against the Wall were more than rumors. I remember following posted links to moonbat sites that spoke of it.

Felt like family, didn't it? And I hate being in crowds.

From the comPost

"As war protesters marched toward Arlington Memorial Bridge en route to the Pentagon yesterday, they were flanked by long lines of military veterans and others who stood in solidarity with U.S. troops and the Bush administration's cause in Iraq. Many booed loudly as the protesters passed, turned their backs to them or yelled, "If you don't like America, get out!""

What little video I took at the rally. PLEASE WAIT UNTIL THE END, IT GETS BETTER. TgslTakoma really lets the lefties have it with a megaphone.

I am still on cloud nine! This was one of the best decisions I have ever made. The pride felt standing w/ our country's Vets and fellow patriots was simply wonderful. I wish I could turn back the hands of time and do it again!

Kevin you were awe inspiring as usual. I was in the command center when I heard you start speaking and came out and got most of it on tape.

Jim and Sheila were on the path by the street because of the mud for the entire rally and could not hear the speakers except you. Jim said when you started speaking he could finally hear what was being said. You really belt out the truth.

When I saw you standing next to me when that MimeMoonbat was explaining to a few people about Bush being a war criminal I cranked up my camera 'cause I knew you could cover him in facts.

That was a great "debate" you had with him, but really, whose side are you on???

OK OK, here is where the sign came from

When he was asked to do his act as a mime he put himself in a box and walked off without his sign.

A great encounter, he was good entertainment!

All I did was explain to him about warcrimes, now why did he give me his sign and walk off after our debate I will never know!

Anyone with gonads in the GOP leadership would video or take pictures of this anti-American debris and make an ad for national TV. Show these traitors with their signs and then put a caption under it saying "your Liberal Democrat Party in action."

Agreed. I didn't realize that there hadn't been much coverage up to the event (my 6 y/o has a VERY busy social schedule :-) so I don't get to read FR as much as I'd like...shame on FOX for not covering that better, but thank goodness they got *some* coverage at least!

I understand the sense of betrayal. In explaining this last night to some younger folks that is really a complex issue as nothing like this had happened before and it was unbelievable then, nor was there any form of mass and instant communication at that time.
