An Oscar For His Second Act (Richard Cohen Smooches Al Gore's Behind)
The Washington Post ^ | February 27, 2007 | Richard Cohen

Posted on 03/19/2007 3:17:26 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Now, somebody ought to make a movie about Al Gore. I would call it "An Uncomplaining Life."

The movie would be about a man who did not quit, who came off the canvas after a painfully close election -- he won the popular vote, after all -- who accepted defeat graciously and tried to unite the nation, who returned to the consuming passion of his earlier days, the environment, and spoke endlessly on the topic, almost always for free, who starred in a documentary based on his speech and who Sunday night, before a billion or so people, won an Academy Award for his effort. This may or may not be a stepping stone to the presidency, but Gore gives us all a lesson on how to live one's life.

Doesn't he mean Gore tried to get military votes thrown out, quibbled over "hanging & pregnant chads" and went all the way to the Florida Supreme Court (that he knew to be liberal) forcing then-Governor Bush to appeal to the US Supreme Court!

WHAT??? He did anything but accept it graciously. He lost the election and then spent five weeks trying to sue his way to victory. And his antics hardly united the nation.

"who accepted defeat graciously and tried to unite the nation"

They got the letters "i" and "t" mixed up. That should read,

"who did not accept defeat graciously and tried to untie the nation"

I wonder if he would say the same for Richard Nixon who DID accept a very close, controversial, defeat graciously and then came back and actually did become President? (Not likely)

And according to the nearly brain dead Mr. Cohen, Jimmah Carter says that algore should be the president. What an endorsement.

Holy crap!

Apparently, this guy needs to revisit his dictionary on the terms "accept", "graciously", and "unite" ... as well as "spin".

This guy is so far up Gore's butt it would take a crane to pull him out.

This story had to be written as a joke.

Scrappleface couldnt have done a better job.

This is an example of what works at the Washington Post, and Scooter Libby had bad luck enough to have one of these airheads on his jury. They should hang Libby's defense attorney.

I don't know who he is talking about here, but it certainly isn't Al Gore!

Libby should seek to have the conviction thrown out based on ineffectiveness of counsel in letting Denis Collins onto the jury in the first place.

I'm sorry that Boy Al made all that nonsense in Florida happen, but if not for all of us here in Tennessee (his "home state"), he would have won anyway.
