More brands added to pet food recall

STREETSVILLE, Ontario, March 19 (UPI) -- Pet food manufacturer Menu Foods of Streetsville, Ontario, has added seven brands to its list of potentially dangerous pet foods.

The manufacturer issued a recall "cuts and gravy"-style cat and dog food brands including Americas Choice, Iams and President's Choice sold at stores across North America after it was revealed that the foods may contribute to kidney failure and death in cats and dogs, ABC News reported Monday.

At least 10 pet deaths have been linked to the recalled foods.

"It's very possible other companies will have to add to this recall," said Louise Murray, director of medicine for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. "People need to keep updating themselves."

Kevin Whalen, spokesman for retailer PETCO, said the store has removed multiple foods, including some that were not listed in the recall, to be "extra careful."

"If it was even possible that certain pet food would be involved, we wanted to be safe," he said.

A full list of the recalled products is available at menufoods.com/recall/.

One time I was opening the little plastic inside of the dry cat food bag that held a coupon.
Being a small plastic pactic, I did what every person in America would do, I used my teeth.
I got a mouthful of dry cat food.
NOT pleasant!

Did you ever see an old episode of the David letterman Show (when he was funny) with Chris Eliot doing a taste test of the leading brands of dog food?
I swear he ate two huge gravy spoons full of wet dog food.

No, it's not. If you go to the site posted above you can see the full list.
Purina is not on the list. Lets not have this evolve into misinformation. Having the correct information is too important.

Yeah. When I posted that a week ago the Menu Foods site was down. This is from the Purina website:

An Update from Nestlé Purina PetCare Company About the Menu Foods Recall

March 23, 2007

We at Nestlé Purina PetCare Company know the reports of pet food recalls and withdrawals over the past week have been very concerning and at times confusing for pet owners, who want to ensure the safety of the food they are feeding their beloved pets.

We want to take this opportunity to reassure you that Mighty Dog pouch products are the ONLY Purina® brand products affected by Menu Foods' recall...

As you can see,you are mistaken and Purina does have one product affected y the recall.

Furthermore, you really should take the time to read through all the posts before you accuse others of spreading misinformation.

Please try to have the right information about my posts before responding, having the right information is important.

Eliot was the funniest guy around, especially on that TV show he had. Bill Murray's brother was in it, I think they barbecued a space alien by mistake.
