Former state Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager has taken a job with a prominent Madison law firm.
Lawton & Cates announced today that Lautenschlager and her top aide, former Deputy Attorney General Dan Bach, will join the firm and specialize in civil litigation, including labor, environment and consumer cases, as well as political and election law and some criminal defense work.
Lautenschlager will also do political consulting work for the firm's clients, but she said this morning that she will not do any lobbying work.
Lautenschlager, 51, served as attorney general from 2003 until 2007. She served as U.S. attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, which includes Madison, from 1993 to 2001, and previously served as both a state lawmaker and a district attorney for Winnebago County.
Lautenschlager ran for re-election last year, but was defeated in the Democratic primary by Kathleen Falk, who went on to lose to Republican J.B. Van Hollen in the November general election.
Bach, 48, served as deputy attorney general from 2003 until 2007. He also served as an assistant U.S. attorney, largely focusing on white-collar crimes, from 1986 until 2000.
Lautenschlager said this morning that the Lawton & Cates firm "provides us an ideal opportunity for continuing the kind of work we've done in the public sector on behalf of consumers, working people, and the environment."
"How Far The Mighty Have Fallen" Ping!
LOL!
I thought she could get a job defending DWI cases.
I'm actually surprised she hung around. I was betting that she'd go East or West Coast on us...and then we'd be rid of her once and for all! Wishful thinking on my part...
But look to the future for nonsense "Environmental" cases from Peg 'The Keg.'
She's not done trashing Wisconsin yet. There's nothing worse to deal with than 'A Woman Scorned.' ;)
Based upon an exhaustive cataloging of her competencies, I'm guessing her responsibilities will be limited to planning for "Happy Hour."
