It is becoming evident to many -- including me -- that Tony Snow, as White House Press Secretary -- has had to bite his tongue more and more lately because the president will not or cannot defend his administration. At press conferences he is backed into a corner by the snarling mad dog MSM, which knows what blood smells like and knows the president does not fight back on domestic issues. Snow is a fighter and this appears to be eating away at him slowly. I expect his resignation before the fall. This would be a significant loss.
He will step down soon.
I've never been thrilled with the idea of Tony Snow as press secretary. While I disagree with him on many issues, he was a lot better at speaking his own mind than pushing the White House viewpoint.
Make a good VP to *somebody*.
He won't step down until he has gathered enough juicy content for his book. He has already had his ticket punched and will have a job for life with the media. He is in the most interesting place he could possibly be and does a good job. I would love to be the fly on the wall in his office.
I wonder... Hell, better than Rudy!
Travis was right!
Well, he was all for amnesty for illegals before he got the job, so why would he desert the country's biggest advocate for amnesty?
Unless he is sure that the President and the Democrats will have made amnesty the law by May, and thus "Mission Accomplished".
Let's face it - like his father George Bush has given up and is just playing out the string. His only "accomplishment" for the rest of his term will be amnesty and open borders, for which the Democrats will get credit, not him. Barring a last minute change of heart, or getting some heart, his legacy will be a Republican Party back in the permanent minority like it was after Watergate, with no Reagan on the horizon.
Who would want to work in that environment? We've come a long way since September 20, 2001.
He should. The second term of this administration is looking like a train-wreck.
I am shockedand pleasedto see that you survive after posting that sort of thing, because I'm pretty sure I recall seeing even longtime FReepers zotted for less.
Who is this Rudy?
Welcome to your next liberal president.
Thank god we hate gun rights and welfare to work programs and thank god for "Rudy". I will NOT vote. Im looking for three or four acres in the middle of nowhere where electrified barbed wire is still legal. Anyone got anything in Va. like that. This is just a note that for the first time since Reagans second term I WILL NOT BE VOTING!!!! Say what you will but there are no candidates worth my time. I will hunker down and hope that the democrats dont destroy us but "Rudy" WILL NOT GET MY VOTE!!!!
here is an index of Tony Snow articles going back to January 1999

Yet another one-issue trick pony bringing their immigration tantrum into a thread.
Get a freaking life, will ya?
No flame. I'm mildly surprised he lasted this long.
Who cares? This administration neutered itself in 2004. It has not shown an iota of testicular fortitude since then. Every chance they had to slam the Dems, they backed down. Even now, with the U.S. Attorney flap. They could headbutt the Dems into submission on that issue, but they avoid conflict like a battered woman.
They're toast, milqtoast.
Just a question for everybody. Why won't the Bush administration fight back?
let's be honest - what has he done? now I grant you, it may well be other members of the WH political operation that refuse to permit a more forceful political communications process. but if that is the case, Snow should see that and jump now.
no one can figure that out.
Tony Snow has been major improvement.
I was wrong thinking he could handle the press corp and would never get the job.
Whoops. I guess my pleased-ness was premature.
Looks like someone didn't share in my appreciation for diversity of opinion.
Are you still logged in?
Rush Limbaugh's explanation, as best he can explain it: "New tone."
Just a question for everybody. Why won't the Bush administration fight back?
I really think at this point, they have thrown in the towel.
Maybe being "Born Again", he has decided to just "Turn the other cheek".
Maybe being "Born Again", he has decided to just "Turn the other cheek".
It really does not matter what he does or doesn't do.. the left and MSM hate him and want him and his admin to pay for years to come. The left is really going to have to find something new to do with all of their negativity and hate when they are out of White House. I on the other hand still love W and support him. I feel I am one of the few left (or right).

The question is WHY? Why would Bush allow the Democrats to continually lie about him. Why would he create a major new entitlement in the mold of Lyndon Johnson? Why would he sign CFR, when he promised during his campaign to veto it? When is his immigration policy so liberal even Ted Kennedy likes it? On the same note, whey did he let Ted Kennedy write the Education Bill? Why did he not speak out in support of Mike Brown? Why did he let Scooter Libby get prosecuted when there was no underlying crime? Why did he allow Sandy Berger to get off with a slap on the wrist after committing treason. Why did he let the N.Y. Times get away with treason in the time of war? Why did he appoint a RINO to co-head the 911 Commission? And what happened to all the Clinton scandals? Well, Bush rescued Clinton by appointing him to be an American Co-Statesman along side his father (remember the Tsunami?).
Face it. No one could screw up this badly unless he was trying. My wife believes Bush is in cahoots with the liberals, with a goal of destroying conservatism. I am slowly coming over to her side. In fact, I am there. Can you say TROJAN HORSE?
The new question is, "Is there any politician left who will stand up for America"?
Hell, I'd put Tony Snow in the White House before a lot of other Rebpublicans. At least he can form complete sentences, and he certainly does appear to be itching for a fight w/the Democrats.

"Tony Snow is a fine Press Secretary but he doesn't agree with me on illegal immigration--waah."
Tony Snow is a great man. He just got hood winked like the rest of us conservatives. Plain and simple... Tony has class, and it will do it at the proper time.
>>>Maybe being "Born Again", he has decided to just "Turn the other cheek".<<<
If he was "Born Again" he would know that Jesus drove the money changers out of the temple; and that Jesus scolded the Pharisees, declaring they were of the Devil and the Devil's lusts they would do (St. John 8:44). He would also know that James instructed us to resist the devil and the devil would flee from us (James 4:7).
Utter rubbish.
Bush has been a supreme disappointment..at least it appears so...i still hold that hes got his pokergame on...his whole gig is to show nothing...we'll see when history "calls" if he won or not.
Okay, you're not going to vote.
We all know it now.
Now shut up about it.
Oh please .. the MSM has always been like this and Tony knew what he was getting into when he took the job
He's a big boy and can handle it
Don't you have anything more productive to do this afternoon?
Tony is a good man, doing a fine job in a place filled with poo flinging monkeys.
You're starting an auxiliary flinging club???
*Sigh*
I swear, most people on here just hate everything.
When he signed up for the job, he knew he would be speaking on behalf of the President...good or bad, but he knew that when he was hired. No surprise to him. If he leaves, he will be fine and the President will find someone else.
Tony Snow may soon be allowed only to utter the words, "The president would like to apologize to the Democrats for offending them or for doing anything that may have upset them."
No, you are not; most of us have just given up posting against the great MOANING coming from the malcontents on this site.
You write a freaky vanity and then post "flame away."
FOTFL
The Republicans ARE sticking together; they are intent on fielding a candidate that can keep the liberals out of the White House and keep them from destroying this country.
The purists among us are hell bent on destroying this country to prove a point.
And then leaves
Yeah. What is it with people who don't understand courtesy and statesmanship?
President Bush worked with Dems in Texas. It's not a shock to any thinking person that he would bend over backwards to invite people to live up to his standards.
Just because Dems exist in the gutter doesn't mean President Bush or Tony should crawl down and fight in the muck with them.
This place is sprouting trolls left and right!
