If American troops are deserting, I say...let them run. Leave them in the Sand Box or wherever they happen to be and be done with them.

Not for sure, but the news I've been reading from other than MSM sources indicates to me that the terrorists are sending in the third string and a lot of them are running around with their hands up. That would indicate a morale problem. Terrorists taking french leave would follow.

I'm getting pretty skeptical of Drudge's developing stories. Especially since so many of them never get ....developed. And if a story gets published by the MSM then Drudge can say he reported it first. ....even though he only posted a headline.

the link for this one on drudges page is nothing more than a refresh button.....at least right now......WTH, it increases his total number of "hits" on his site, right?
lefties play games like that with google to get the articles that suit their agenda, so drudge could also benefit by placing refresh buttons "developing".......???

Never mind. Anyway, I doubt very seriously that American troops would be deserting. If it is Iraqis, I think it's problematic. If it's the Kurds, I don't think it should come as a surprise. There was a story in January about Kurds refusing to fight in Baghdad and I doubt it has anything to do with cowardice.

If it were Americans, I would agree but I would hope for some harsh punishment. If Iraqis are deserting, then I think we're going to have to re-think our strategy of "standing the Iraqis up". That's if there's anything here to begin with.

you know, despite the hoopla and the apparently supporting quotes regarding the upward revision of "deserters", I think it might be a word game to hit the Army as an organization.
It occurs to me that someone might not be reported as a "deserter" for the purpose of this statistic until he/she has either pleaded or been found guilty.....as opposed to exceeding 30 days AWOL or even being charged with desertion.
There is a difference between the morning report, being charged, and having been convicted.
To: Vn_survivor_67-68
I don't see why they're making such an issue of this other than just to put forth another negative story on the military. Here's a post on the thread for this story reflecting
past years numbers.

So these are not desertions in theater. It was hard to tell where it was going with the headline. I knew that American soldiers weren't deserting in combat so I figured it was about Iraqi troops. I would second your "good riddance" but as someone who has never served, I don't think I have the right to make that judgment.

Yes, I'm trying to destroy the recruiting effort, disrupt the war effort and give Dick Cheney a heart attack all by posting a Drudge headline on FR. On my next thread I will be giving away U.S. troop positions.

Maybe the poster's intent is to get us to give the tabloid site drudge.com some hits?
I've had problems with Drudge in past years with things being installed in my computer, according to my firewall. And I'm not talking about popups/popunders and cookies, but something more nefarious.

If American troops are deserting, I say...let them run.Roger that.....and let them stay on the run. If they are thinking amnesty(ala Vietnam)by a future President, they might want to rethink. This global thing with radical Islam isnt going away after Iraq and I dont think amnesty is going to be in order for anybody for quite a spell.
To: streetpreacher
The key to morale in any military unit is cohesion and espirit de corps. I would bet a large sum that the vast majority of these people are not coming from units with high espirit, good leadership, etc.
