It was Kris Helphinstine's first week teaching at Sisters High School, and he was hoping to encourage some critical thinking in his biology class.
So while discussing evolution, he handed out an essay written by a prominent creationist and put together a PowerPoint presentation linking evolution to eugenics experiments practiced in Nazi Germany. That decision cost Helphinstine his job this week.
The Sisters School District Board voted to fire Helphinstine after only eight days, making the Central Oregon community the latest flashpoint in the multidecade debate over the teaching of evolution in American schools.

Right! And the teacher was dumb to go against them in his first week with a formal presentation.
Which I would call Darwinism in action.
:-)
Hey! Maybe he should have left the Nazis out of it, ya think?
Maybe Jesus was a Nazi, Hmmm? There's a nice thought provoking discussion topic. Maybe the Pope is a Nazi. Maybe you're a Nazi. Just food for thought!
Stooge Helphinstine got what he wanted. Now we wait to see which Creationist Law Center backs him in the court case.
That's actually one of my favorite retorts to liberals who just go around mouthing about how Bush is a fascist. Something along the lines of, "Well, that's original. But actually, I believe you might be a fascist. Prove me wrong?"
You have to say it in a cheery voice, of course. Completely throws them for a loop.
Sounds like a medical issue for me
Exactly. Once you let a biology teacher link Creationism with the Nazis you will have to let the civics teacher tell students that Bush is a war criminal.
Every moonbat teacher will share their kooky beliefs with their students.
Teachers need to stick to the mandated curriculum.
I am sure that they will feel more comfortable in Putin's embrace.
BUMP
He could have just stated his case with information about the organizers of what is now the SAT and what their purpose was in creating a test for college entrance screening.
I'm slowly coming to that conclusion myself - 'cept that Communist Russia (the USSR) ain't there anymore :D
evolution shall be forever linked with nazi germany's racist eugenics/pogroms & margaret sanger's eugenic monster planned parenthood. evolution is also linked with communism. one story goes that an ex student of creationist john morris became communist. he traveled to moscow where he was indoctrinated starting exclusively with darwinian evolution... thus identifying it as the foundation of communism.
hitler's racist ideology is based on evolution's principles of natural selection & survival of the fittest. even darwin himself came to similar conclusions about his own ideas:
"At some future period, not very distant as measured by centuries, the civilized races of man will almost certainly exterminate, and replace, the savage races throughout the world. At the same time, the anthropomorphous apes . . . will no doubt be exterminated. The break between man and his nearest allies will then be wider, for it will intervene between man in a more civilized state, as we may hope, even than the Caucasian, and some ape as low as a baboon, instead of as now between the negro [sic] or Australian and the gorilla."
Later in the same volume, Darwin wrote:
"It has often been said . . . that man can resist with impunity the greatest diversities of climate and other changes; but this is true only of the civilized races. Man in his wild condition seems to be in this respect almost as susceptible as his nearest allies, the anthropoid apes, which have never yet survived long, when removed from their native country. "

Just another anti-science NAZI trying to mess up kids with pictures of dead people.
Bull. "Natural selection & survival of the fittest" work NATURALLY -- they don't involve a brutal tyrant with delusions of grandeur organizing mass exterminations of tyrant-selected "unfit" groups.
Oh what a mistake that was..to actually attempt to present an alternate viewpoint when it's based on Christian beliefs.
Now had the ppt been about the joy and love brought about by Secular Eugenics - not a peep.
