Rudy Giuliani said his wife, Judith, came clean as soon as they met about her secret first husband - and insisted that the revelation would not hurt his chances of becoming president.....The first lady-wannabe dropped the matrimonial bombshell this week, by revealing publicly for the first time in an interview with The Post that she had been married before meeting "America's mayor" not once, but twice. She wed her hitherto-unknown first husband Jeffery Scott Ross in a whirlwind Las Vegas ceremony in 1974. The couple divorced in 1979 - just a few months before she wed Bruce Nathan, with whom she had a daughter, Whitney.....The Giulianis have six marriages between them, including the former mayor's first marriage, to second cousin Regina Peruggi, in 1968 and his wedding to TV personality Donna Hanover, the mother of his two children, in 1984.

Careful. That becomes a broad brush. Recall Terezzzza. Recall First Lady Hillary. Painting with a broad brush takes all that off the table.

But it does raise a perpetual question: How much or little influence and attention to the personal lives of relatives of presidential contenders in the election? Recall Billy Carter, Rodham's brothers, BillyJ's brother, Harry Truman's daughter, etc.

Like it or not, when a candidate announces, his family are also opened up to press and opposition scrutiny.

I'm gonna post this one comment and then I have to run to a baseball tournament. If anyone out there believes that the NY press does not have a boatload of dirt on Rudy they are nuts. I know many have said the NY press stuck it to him as Mayor. I don't think they did. Face it, he did a great job of cleaning up NYC, where they all live. Sure they harassed him, they hate Republicans, but truthfully they were well served by him. We all know that the msm would love Hillary as pres., why not let Rudy slide until the nomination and then once he is in, bring in the big guns. Even if he manages to beat Hillary, in spite of the dirt, the msm still gets a liberal as Pres. they win either way. I'm telling ya, we haven't seen anything yet.

"Scorched earth" conservatism is just what's needed to keep the Democrats in power. Good job there! Hillary may be POTUS, the economy and the country in shambles, but I stuck to my principles. What a patriot!

I am not sure if Free Republic has been invaded by DU trolls, bitter old cranks or morally vain egotists (or a combination of the three), but I wish people would pay a little more attention to Reagan's 11th Commandment.

I can really visualize Tom Tancredo or Duncan Hunter as the next POTUS. Congressmen with narrow constituencies and little name recognition get elected POTUS all the time.

What is even more disturbing than lies about one's past or omissions of the truth whichever you prefer is when someone marries their cousins. That to me is sick. Second cousin or not they are still blood related I don't care how they try to explain it away. YUK!!

The Constitution has nothing to do with it.We are talking character here, and it's pretty weak. You want someone in the WH who's life looks like a storm? One divorce, I could possibly buy into. Three marriages? I don't want a train wreck looking for a place to happen running my country. Look at Hunter - 33+ years and still happily with the same woman.

Rudy is a poor face to represent the republicans. Why not move someone forward, who was an Airborne Ranger (Hunter) in Vietnam, rather than hiding behind a legal clerks deferment (Rudy). Didn't Rudy make New York a sanctuary city for illegal?

  Mayor Giuliani routinely disregarded the First Amendment as he rejected requests for information from news organizations and civic groups and opposed public access to city hall steps and parks for demonstrations. "Freedom is about authority," Giuliani said, responding to critics in 1998. "Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do and how you do it."

• Withholding Public Information
  In a legally questionable transaction on December 24, 2001, just days before the end of the mayor's second term, Giuliani secretly moved all 2,100 boxes of mayoral files and videos from his eight years in office. The records, which by law were to become the property of the Municipal archives, were transferred to a gated private storage facility, and their control was transferred to the Rudolph W. Giuliani Center for Urban Affairs, a newly-established private nonprofit group controlled by Giuliani.

  Angry archivists and historians denounced the unprecedented hijacking of public property to private hands. Tom Connors, of the Society of American Archivists, said the transfer seemed part of a movement to "create barriers to the American citizen's right to know what their governments are doing."

• Profiting From His Hero Status
  In February, 2002, Giuliani insisted upon transferring guardianship of the $100 million remaining in the city-run Twin Towers Fund to a private charity he controlled.

  The families of the police and fire rescuers who died in the attack balked at Giuliani's plan to take up to a year to dole out the money, with his new organization billing $2.2 million in anticipated administrative expenses (including six-figure salaries for friends he appointed as officers). The families argued that the fire union had far more quickly distributed $111 million with an estimated administrative cost of just $30,000.

  Under embarrassing pressure from the victims' families, unions and state Attorney General Elliot Spitzer, Giuliani backed down. He promised to distribute the money within 60 days and fund his overhead from new donations. The families of the deceased rescuers, the real heroes of the September 11 attacks, received a one-time benefit of about $230,000 each from the Giuliani-privatized fund in 2002. That year, the former mayor earned some $8 million in speaking fees alone, more than $650,000 per month.

And he's been winning opinion polls like crazy with Republican voters. Who decides if someone is not 'conservative' enough for the 11th commandment to apply? You? I'm sure if you used that standard you could always find some fault with a candidate so that you could disregard Reagan's 11th commandment (even on the former Democrat Ronald Reagan himself).
