Golf Course Crew Finds Skull in Fairway

Golf course workers uncovering the tees for the season discovered a human skull at a suburban Chicago club and found bones nearby in the fairway, authorities said.

The skull was spotted Monday near the 14th tee of the Prairie Course, one of two 18-hole courses at the Countryside Golf Club in Mundelein, according to Lake County Forest Preserve Police Chief John Galford.

"It was laying there, right in the middle of the fairway," Galford said.

He said the identity and gender of the person had not been determined, but the skull had some distinguishing marks: a partial set of dentures, two of the teeth are gold, some of the teeth have a star pattern on them, and one of the front teeth has a golden "R" on it.

A forensic dentist planned to examine the skull and bones Tuesday, said Lake County Coroner Richard Keller. He said investigators would go through police records and missing-persons reports.

You must not be a golfer. Real golfers play all year despite the weather and any real golfer knows winter months are subject to winter rules.

That means you can improve your lie by moving the human skull without penalty.

A golfer would never let a human skull stand between him or her and a shot for birdie. Heck I’d kick a human skull out of my way for par.

The 14th on the Prarie won't kill you. It's a nice easy par 4. A little over 300 yards. Dogleg (no pun intended) right but a few traps to catch a drive.
