You certainly are on here attempting to tell everyone that YOU know how others are thinking and speaking.

Why cant MamaB?

The hardsell tactics and bully tactics are very tiresome.
Kind of like kicking a dead horse.

Are you whining?? lol

Reagan started out as a liberal Democrat.

No. He was a Democrat, but not liberal. He made the famous statement, "I didn't leave the Democrat Party, the Democrat Party left me."

He believed in a womans right to choose, just like Rudy.

Reagan believed, Rudy still believes

He changed along the way but you seem to think he was born with the Republican logo stamped across his forehead.

I'm fascinated by the complete silliness of this one.

Well life has a way of waking you up to what's important. Whether he was frustrated with the Senate is irrelevant. If he believes (and others around him) believe he can be a great President, so be it. I would put more faith in someone who has been a day-to-day insider in DC and knows how the system works versus someone who was Mayor of NYC.

No dear. Reagan was a Democrat many moons ago. He became opposed to abortion way before he ran for office. He never championed abortion. Later he even said that he was ashamed of ever being pro choice.

Your man Rudy has always been for abortion and has been a cheerleader for gay-lesbian causes. Some of the events he has attended have roots to perversion.

Rudy has disclaimed none of it. Therefore he is liberal and no comparison to Reagan can be made.

Rudy started out as a questionable lib NY Republican and he still is a questionable lib NY Republican.

If as you Rudyites like to say, "Rudy is the only one who can beat Hillary," then why didn't he run against her for the Senate? Could it be that he didn't actually believe he could win?

He was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Do we have a problem with our memory?

You're assuming Hillary will be the nominee. I don't think she will. I think it will be Obama.

What amazes me is that many of the Rudy supports have become one issue voters (he'll be good on the WoT),

Their only arguments on that issue is that he threw Arafat out of a NYC event and was in NYC during 9/11/01.

I could easily put up a good counter to all of that.

"I could advise you to do the same. Reagan started out as a liberal Democrat. He believed in a womans right to choose, just like Rudy. He changed along the way but you seem to think he was born with the Republican logo stamped across his forehead."

BIG difference. Rudy "claims" to be a republican and has made it clear he isn't gonna change his views on the murder of innocent babies. Reagan *was* a democrat but when he became a republican he decided that the murder of millions of innocent babies was no longer acceptable and changed his mind. That's something Rudy clearly says he isn't gonna do. Like I said, BIG difference!

Narses, I totally agree with you on Hunter. It is very early yet, so I am keeping my options open, but, so far, it looks like Hunter is by far the best choice. That being said, can you provide a link for the Rudy quote in reference to being like Hillary, I don't want to use it as ammo until I have verified it as fact. :)

I agree, and the whole "vote Rudy, he can bit Shillery" meme is starting to wear thin. Hillary is formidable never make the mistake of believing otherwise. She will get some votes, she has the machinery in place and there is, unfortunately, no dearth of voters who will fall for her socialist, nanny-state pablum. Even so, bring her and her skeleton laden closet on!

I fully suspect certain types of moderate/liberal Republican supporters are probably going to be a little uncomfortable here. We will be fighting for traditional American conservatism no matter who we have to fight against and I'm afraid that's going to piss off some folks.

~Jim Robinson~

You know, if I were to go to a website like DU it would be solely for the purpose of pissing them off. If I tried to "fit in with the DUmmies," I assume I would become very uncomfortable. I would think that this would essentially parallel the moderate/liberals on FR.

If this was first and foremost a Republican forum, the Rudyites would have a legitimate gripe, but it's not. Free Republic is, first and foremost a CONSERVATIVE forum and many of Rudy's beliefs are completely at odds with conservatism.

Thank you. I haven't heard that in a while.

I think the meaning is becoming skewed to many.

Yes, I am aware of his excuse in 2000 about his prostate cancer. However, he wasn't so ill that he had to step down as mayor (which is theoretically more stressful than a senate campaign), so maybe it was just a convenient excuse.

But what I was really talking about was last fall, why didn't he run then? If he had defeated her, she would have been finished politically -- THAT would have been a demonstration of GOP loyalty.

Excellent point and a point some here tend to forget or ignore. BTW, I'll be stealing that quote and use it when needed. ;^)

So, pro-abortion (including partial birth abortion), pro-homosexual "civil unions" (i.e. marriage), pro-illegal immigration and pro-gun control are no longer liberal positions?!

Your President, George W. Bush is also for civil unions, as are the majority of the people in the United States of America. He calls it "compassionate conservatism."

Rudy is not "for" illegal immigration and you can keep repeating this absurdity until the cows come home, but it's not true.

Rudy has vowed NOT to push a pro abortion agenda and to elect conservative judges who may be able to repeal Roe V Wade even though I don't think that's going to happen. They may be able to put some kind of trimester limits on abortion, hopefully.

I don't have any fear that a President Giuliani will "take our guns." This is pure fantasy.
