Germany rattled by militant's release

BERLIN — She was a young leftist with a machine gun and bizarre thoughts about changing the world, but that was 30 years ago, back when Brigitte Mohnhaupt helped lead a terrorist gang whose assassinations of politicians and industrialists mesmerized postwar Germany.

On Sunday, Mohnhaupt again rattled the public consciousness when she was released from prison as an unrepentant convicted murderer. Once a brazen and unrelenting mastermind for the anticapitalist Red Army Faction, or RAF, the 57-year-old inmate stepped back into a nation still agitated over a bygone era of bombings, fanatical screeds and urban guerrillas.

This woman should have been executed for her crimes. She is unrepentant and should never have been released in any case back into society.

How unabashadley insane to do so.

This case stands alone as a great arguement for the death penalty. If the murderer is dead, he/she cannot be released.

I was a High School Student in Heidelberg when she and her RAF partners killed four American Soldiers there in 1972

She will get her just desserts. Ishe marries a Muslim, German courts now say that Sharia will allow him to beat her senseless..possibly even kill her.

Five life sentences????!!!!
No remorse? No apologies?
No cooperation with police to solve past RAF crimes?

"she won't kill anyoen." Yeah, right!

Germany and Europe has totally lost it.

A court recently ruled that she was eligible for parole after serving a minimum of 24 years.

5 life sentences for multiple murders equals 24 years in Germany. What the sentence for the 'thought crime' of denying the Holocaust there? Just curious.

Anyone got a before and after picture of this collectivist gal? Dollars to donuts she was ugly then and is now grossly hideous.

I think the German public should also be "rattled" over the release of the terrorist Mohammed Ali Hamadi.

How many people do you have to kill before they don't let you walk free?

As long as it's the right people, it doesn't matter. For those who rode this toxic wave to power, a Fischer, a Schroeder, the people the RAF killed were the right people. There are far more scars in Europe than those caused by WWII and some of them are still unhealed wounds.

That is indeed true. Espechially since Sex was a fundamental issue of the German "68-Generation" where the RAF is part of. Andreas Baader i.e. had always simultaneous sexual relationships with several women inside the RAF. Lots of casual sex. Women that are not uptight (and I think that Mohnhaupt is not uptight because of her ideologic background) are usually better lovers than those with restraints.

The later Mohnhaupt pics that were used for tracing usually showed a ugly and fierce woman instead of the pretty and cheeky twen she once was. Gross pixeled photos that suggested the danger she emanated.

Why are you talking sh**, rogle? IT HAS GOTTEN MUCH OF ATTENTION IN GERMANY! Even today, Europe´s largest newspaper (BILD) writes a commentary saying that it´s freakin´ unbelievable that people like Mohnhaupt may be happy in their lives again.

How well informed of you! You don´t bother to learn that the judge who used the Koran was suspended for that and was pulled off that case??

Mesmerized? Terrorized is more like it.

The German legal system is a rude joke perpetrated on the civilized world.

Homeschoolers who have harmed no one have their children ripped away by gun-toting government thugs and unrepentant mass murderers walk out of prison.

It's the textbook definition of insanity.

Judges are independant and only bound to the law. They cannot be impeached or removed other than by decision of the fellow judges. In Germany, judges are not elected by the people. They get their legitimation by appointment of the Justice Minister, who cannot fire them once they´re appointed. ONE completely mistaken decision does not justify the removal of a judge, except we can PROVE that she was acting willfully. So, the disciplinatory measures that will be taken against her will be a reminder. If she does it again, I doubt that their fellow judges could stand the public pressure to keep her in court.

It may be getting attention in Germany but not here state side.

By the way here are some memories of from those who were there when Heidelburg was bombed by these critens and killed four US Servicemen.

-----------

My dad had been at HHour at the Casino, too! Until about 5:30 (the cars blew up around 6 pm) when he had to leave to drive Tom and Krejsa to the Universitat for practice with their summer league German B-Ball team. Tom and Krejsa had been hanging out checking out the Ford Capri in the parking lot (it was one that blew up) since my dad planned to buy one when we got back to the States later that year. They left with my dad about 20 min before the bombs went off.

I was in my room looking out the window and trying to avoid my homework and heard the explosions, felt the house shake, and saw the mushroom clouds and debris - it scared the s*&% out of me! Flat out freaked me OUT! I was about 12 or 13 yrs old.

We had moved on to the economy and lived on PanoramaStr., about 4 blocks straight up the hill from the main gate at Campbell...

---------

Hey Roo, remember how our windows rattled? I remember sitting in the kitchen with Jim Rodgers and the apartment shook like a 7.0 magnitude earthquake!

---------

Wow, I can't believe there are so many other people who had similar experiences to me concerning this event. It frightened me very much. We were so new to Germany and I didn't know anyone yet. My father was on his way out of the casino that evening when he paused to look at a poster inside the casino beside the front door. Just then the bomb went off and the glass door blew in beside him. If he had continued out the door he would have been killed. I was 16 years old, and it had quite an impact on me concerning terrorism. The problem with terrorists is that they don't care that they are blowing up real people. They only think in terms of their narrow ideology.

---------

I was with my mom and brother at our garden plotz outside Leiman when the bomb exploded, but I heard it,saw the mushroom cloud and it scared the hell out of me. My dad was home that day due to dental work. If it was as loud as it was in Leiman, I can only imagine what it must have felt like on Holbeinring!!
