It is looking increasingly likely Sen. Webb possessed, controlled, and carried a unregistered handgun around the District of Columbia, and was last known to had possessed a unregistered weapon and ammunition at an airport terminal before handing over possession to another individual (possibly a criminal offense as well because Webb was not a licensed firearms dealer). All serious crimes in the District of Columbia.
No person or organization (other than law enforcement officers, members of the military or licensed dealers) may possess or control any firearm in the District unless the person or organization holds a valid registration certificate. D.C. Code § 7-2502.01. Pursuant to section 7-2502.02, several types of firearms are unregisterable, including sawed-off shotguns, machine guns, short-barreled rifles, and handguns not registered to the current owner prior to September 24, 1976.
Pursuant to section 7-2502.06(a), a person must obtain a registration certificate prior to taking possession of a firearm from a licensed dealer or from any person or organization holding a registration certificate for the firearm. In all other cases, an application for registration must be filed immediately after a firearm is brought into the District [or within 48 hours if such person personally communicates with the Metropolitan Police Department and provides such information as may be demanded].
§ 6-2311, unlawful possession of ammunition.
Only question remains now is when Sen. Webb will be arrested and charged.
The laws don't apply to Democrats.
Do you havae a source for this, or is this your opinion? It makes sense that he might be arrested--but I'm just curious about where the thread came from.
The Bitch set him up.
He'll be fine. The media will make a joke of it and that's the end of it.
He signed on with the Dimocrat Party after all.
No supprise, Webb has always seemed like a loose cannon.
The 2d Amendment is only for Senators, not for plain folks.
Why would Hitlary go after Webb like that ?
Typical Dem. The rules don't apply to them ya know!
Wait a sec, I thought this was Webb's aide ? http://wizbangblog.com/2007/03/26/webb-aide-arrested-with-handgun-in-dc.php
BTTT
Webb will get the Carl Rowan get-out-of-jail-free treatment.
It was Webb's aide...not Webb earlier. Have things changed or is the poster off the rails?
This might be the only time you see the MSM go "pro-gun" .
If true, hang his ass in the wind just as they would if it were me. A few more congress princesses in jail and maybe they will start reconsidering 'gun control'.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
Well at least we can be sure Sen. Webb will be supporting the D.C. gun ban repeal.
According to the way it's written on the Fox News Website, it appears that nothing will be made of this. A siomple oversight on Webb's part.....
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,261368,00.html
.....Ain't that always the way it is with these DemonRATS? Just a simple oversight....Oh, I forgot.....I don't recall.... etc, etc, etc
I agree although the media won't be so much pro-gun as merely poo-pooing their "champion" answer to limp wristed Dimocrat metrosexuality.
They'll actually use this to trumpet the "fresh" and "masculine" Dimocrat look.
Watch, you'll see that theme repeated before the end of the week.
The other major problem is that it made it into DC, which would nail Webb to illegal transport. Webb will be in more trouble than his aide .Unloaded weapons carried by Senators and Reps is legal only on capitol grounds, it's getting it there that is illegal .You can't have it at all going through DC in any manner .Typical gun laws, make no sense .
"Only question remains now is when Sen. Webb will be arrested and charged."
It will never happen. He's a democrat not a republican. End of story.
Yeah , it will be entertaining to see how the MSM handles this one . This will be good ...
Doesn't he have immunity since Congress is in session?
No sir. I'm a loose cannon, Ollie North is a loose cannon. Webb is a pretentious little man. If I needed to carry in DC, you wouldn't catch me.
Given that this is Sen. Webb, and the fact that Vice President Cheney sometimes actually presides over the Senate (since he is President of the Senate), the thought occurred to me that Webb might have been thinking of taking out Cheney (so that the impeachment of Bush would be able to result in Pelosi becoming President), but he wouldn't have had his aide carry the weapon in that case.
Not sure of all of the facts of this case, but if Webb did hand off a weapon he wasn't licensed to carry to his aide, that means Webb himself was carrying it illegally before he passed it off.
I think that is the gist of the OP.
Capitol police state that senators or their aides (on their behalf) may bring unloaded firearms onto capitol property. His was loaded. Unfortunately, the catch-22 is that nobody may bring handguns thru D.C. It appears that Webb and his aide probably did run afoul of D.C. law, but don't hold your breath on any serious consequences.
And this is the same Sen. Jim Webb who made threatening comments directed toward President Bush. Remember this.

Newly elected Senator Jim Webb, D-Va., was so infuriated by a remark from President George W. Bush that the former Marine officer was tempted to punch the commander-in-chief.
The confrontation, disclosed in the influential Washington, D.C.-based publication The Hill, came shortly after the midterm elections at a private White House reception for newly elected lawmakers.
Webb, who defeated Republican Sen. George Allen in Virginia, ran a campaign critical of the administrations Iraq policy, and has a son, a Marine lance corporal, serving in Iraq.
At the reception, Bush asked Webb how his son was doing.
Webb answered that he really wanted to see his son brought back home, a source close to Webb reported.
The Associated Press quoted Webb as saying, "I told him I'd like to get them out of Iraq."
"I didnt ask you that, I asked how hes doing, Bush countered, according to the source.
Emily Heil wrote in The Hill: "Webb confessed that he was so angered by this that he was tempted to slug the commander-in-chief, reported the source, but of course didnt.
Webbs spokeswoman Kristian Denny Todd confirmed that "Jim did have a conversation with Bush at that dinner. Basically, he asked about Jims son; Jim expressed the fact that he wanted to have him home.
Todd wouldnt comment on Bushs response.
Well, he carries one, anyway.
Thanks for reposting that.
I hope he was going to a knife fight....
Yes ,but getting it there is the catch , because of the D.C. ban. This is a great opportunity to get this issue to the forefront , and maybe get some Dims on record supporting gun rights and concealed carry.
Among the "full of themselves" Democrats, Webb is in a league with Kennedy, Kerry, Dodd and Leahy.
There is no Democrat that I'd rather see spread-eagled across the hood of a DC Police cruiser being frisked by a 165 lb, well muscled dyke cop!!
What ever happen to that Dems who is in a coma?
Johnson , they posted some staged Castro style pics of him and said he was fine . I have my doubts and hope he truly gets well. The fact of the matter is that they should resign him and replace him, as he is unable to represent due to his health .
The DC court of appeals through out most of those laws a couple weeks ago.
US Code is so vague. He will get off.
§ 930. Possession of firearms and dangerous weapons in Federal facilities
(a) Except as provided in subsection (d), whoever knowingly possesses or causes to be present a firearm or other dangerous weapon in a Federal facility (other than a Federal court facility), or attempts to do so, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 1 year, or both.
d) Subsection (a) shall not apply to
(1) the lawful performance of official duties by an officer, agent, or employee of the United States, a State, or a political subdivision thereof, who is authorized by law to engage in or supervise the prevention, detection, investigation, or prosecution of any violation of law;
That's pretty much every staffer, congressman, or aide on the Capitol They slipped the 'political' part in just to be safe.
Laws that apply to us regular citizens do not apply to the political class. Sandy Berger walked, Cynthia McKinney walked, William "Cold Cash" Jefferson (Democrat, Louisiana) remains untouched, and Jim Webb will walk. If any of us did what any of those scumbags did we would be staring at bars right now.
The 12th of never. And all charges will soon be dropped against his aide.
Reagan National is in Virginia. And Dulles (named for John Foster Dulles) is also in Virginia. But other than both names and the location of one, you are doing pretty well in that post.
My initial impression was he departed DC to the airport. BUT if he was already in VA.....
OK, let's see what happens now!
