I think the good people of Virginia are wishing they didn't send Jim Webb to the Senate right about now. I mean, they replaced Allen with this unglued "I almost punched the President" classless nutjob.

At this briefing, I believe he looked like a cornered rat!

Unhinged? Perhaps.

Covering his sorry ass? Absolutely!

My prediction is he will resign before the end of his first term -- just like he resigned when he was SECNAV. Something will rub him the wrong way, and he'll quit in a huff.

This sinator is only showing his true colors and lets face it, a Navy cross doesn't carry much weight as proved by that illustrious Dimocrat Pres. candidate Kerry.

He was a loose cannon while Secretary of the Navy, always shooting his mouth of. He still is.

"So, what do you think fellow freepers?"

What I wonder is, why did some FReepers here vote for him and help get him elected in the first place? Perhaps some of them could chime in and let us know if they regret their vote now, or if they're proud that they elected a world class jerk to represent their state. How about it Webb voters?

Anybody charged or potentially guilty of the crime of "keeping and bearing arms" needs to be careful about making admissions that could lead to a felony conviction.

Webb seems to have said that the aide was not aware of the presence of the firearm. I don't think he needs to say anything more at this time.

Even a Senator has a fifth amendment right to remain silent. If Webb is called as a witness in a trial of the aide, Webb may need to insist on immunity before testifying to anything beyond what has already been admitted.

There doesn't seem to be any good reason for Webb to offer himself up as another Parker case, since Parker has already been decided in favor of an individual right to keep and bear arms.

What is really curious, however, is that the aide is being charged for possessing unregistered items and not for attempting to bring firearms into a government controlled facility. I think that we are missing some details as to what happened just after the gun was discovered. It's impossible to violate the Second Amendment in a place like DC without encountering some substantial jurisdictional puzzles.

I like what Brit Hume said about Webb on his news hour yesterday. If Webb is the Democrats next great hope, does he stand a chance in hell being their nomination?

He's a Democrat and that's all I need to know. They're all lunatics and/or traitors.

I knew he was crazy when he became a RAT and started trashing Reagan. I realized he was totally deranged when I read the passages from his books. His failure to come clean to help his own aide shows he's a chickenshit, as well.

100% certain he is hanging out his staffer.

To Webb it seems the staffer is an "oh well, next!" casualty.
