Trust me, this is possibly a historic tornado outbreak with many tornadoes described as very wide, 1/2 to a mile wide - unfortunately there's no one media article or NWS product I can point you to saying so right now - FR prides itself on reporting breaking stuff first, and the information regarding this outbreak is scattered across a lot of hard to read NWS products and reports from storm chasers on bulletin boards.
There are numerous spotted tornadoes on the ground right now, and several seem to have gone through a number of small towns in the Texas Panhandle and Kansas so far...one person has been killed in Oklahoma. I'll provide as many links as I can. Surprised not a mention on FR yet.
No large towns have been hit, yet.
Hopefully this will stay in "breaking" - I don't put stuff there lightly.

Yep...this is one for the books. Impressive outbreak still underway across much of the Texas Panhandle into Oklahoma and northward to Nebraska. Horrible night for a lot of people. Looks like there have been several LARGE tornadoes.

Surprised this isn't on Drudge. He usually picks up on major storms and earthquakes.
Not a tornado, but we've had very strong NW winds all day here in Vermont. I walked the dogs a couple of miles, saw a lot of branches down and a couple of tin roofs being ripped off. Almost got whacked by a dead branch off the top of a roadside maple.
