The Coulter Hoax: How Ann Coulter Exposed the Intelligent Design Movement
Talk Reason (from Skeptical Inquirer) ^ | March 14, 2007 | Peter Olofsson

Posted on 03/31/2007 1:48:09 PM PDT by EveningStar

In the summer of 2006, I heard that a new book called Godless presented an insightful and devastating criticism of the theory of evolution. Although I learned that its author, Ann Coulter, is not a scientist but a lawyer turned author and TV pundit, she nevertheless appeared to be an intelligent and well-educated person, so I started reading. At first I was puzzled. There did not seem to be anything new; only tired and outdated antievolution arguments involving moths, finches, and fruit flies. But it wasn't until Coulter dusted off the old Piltdown man story that I suddenly realized: it was a hoax! And it was brilliant...

At least you know the worth of your observation...as you, yourself state, not much...

Yes, I don't take myself to be as obnoxious and self-important as you apparently take yourself to be.

Some did, some didn't.

AHA! You agree with Coulter.

Wasn't blather, if you had read it and were able to understand it, it contained more evidence and scientific proof than anything the creationists can come up with.

When you lose an argument, merely stating "God did it! Its a miracle" isn't very persuasive.

I lost a lot of respect for Coulter when I heard of her anti-evolution screed. Perhaps there is hope for her after all.

How is it that 'merely stating' things is ok for you, but no one else?

Exactly when and where did I argue on behalf of ID or TOE? Don't bother looking. You won't find anything. Why don't you read what I posted in this thread instead of slicing fractions out of context and making remarks that demonstrate your creative abilities.

He's a lousy writer (maybe because English isn't his primary language).

That's his editor's fault, IMO.

I lose respect for Coulter every time she makes an ass of herself on TV or in speeches.

She is a huckster, nothing more, and her time is passing quickly.

"The Spanish Inquisition followed the Reconquista of the Iberian Peninsula from the Moors - Muslims. It was the final act in purging Islam and its collaborators from Spain. This was a reaction to the cutthroats."

A rather interesting take on the reconquistor...My people the Sephardim, have a different view however.

Are you really as stupid as you make out? You evidently attempted to qoute the specious 'Evolution is Theory not fact' adage, but failed.

I know your comments were to CyberAnt, but I gotta respond.

First off, don't you love the excitable types that get so easily provoked at nothing, and then start pounding the keyboard with the caps lock key on? Still not as deranged as nmh, though.

To answer your first question, well, you were asking that to someone that fritters their money away on the likes of Ken Copeland or Joyce Meyers, so....

Not trying to say people can't spend their money however they want. Even if they are gullible.

Yes, the case for evolution is SOOOOO.... good they are terrified of anyone reading or being shown the contrary evidence.

A complete waste of screen space. Go spew it to your choir.

And yet, you neither read it, nor had the ability to understand it. So, just stick your fingers in your ears and say "It's a miracle, God did it!" and close your mind to any data or knowledge that might find its way to you. Folks like you probably killed the inventor of the wheel for being a heretic.

Those sources are bogus, they are dogmatic sites without any understanding of the scientific method.

So, do you believe that every species somehow found its way to the ark, then afterwards found its way back across vast oceans with no food or vegetation. Thousands and thousands of miles of swimming for the sloth, an arboreal animal that only lives in a tree and eats the leaves of a certain type of tree somehow managed to swim to Noah, and back home?

You YEC's are hilarious in your pure ignorance.

Creationism is the special olympics of science, I guess it makes you all feel special, but the real science is done by actual professionals.

Coulter is an astute businesswoman and probably doesn't believe half the stuff she spouts.

I agree with you.

"I keep hanging around out of sheer curiosity to see who gets the last word."

It's been awhile since anybody posted. Does that mean that I get the last word?

If so, I choose . . . . . 43. Not really a word (maybe I should have spelled it out), nevertheless, it is the answer to everything.

~faith.

Some geological features are caused by floods, but there's no evidence of any flood as large as or as widespread as the flood described in Genesis, and a lot of evidence that no such flood has or could have occurred.

You're an evil man!

Have you ever heard a liberal say that about Al Gore? Or one of the Hollyweirdos?
