Three Yale Students Arrested for Burning a Flag By JOHN HOLUSHA Published: April 4, 2007 Three Yale University students were arrested early Tuesday morning for burning an American flag on a pole attached to a house in New Haven, the Yale Daily News reported today. The three men, all of foreign origin, were charged with offenses ranging from reckless endangerment to arson and were held in jail Tuesday night after a judge refused to release them without bail. According to the newspaper, the New Haven police said the men two freshmen and a senior first attracted police attention at about 3 a.m. Tuesday when they asked two offcers for directions back to their residence. They were identified as Said Hyder Akbar, 23, Nikolaos Angelopoulos, 19, and Farhad Anklesaria, also 19. The two officers returned to the neighborhood shortly afterward and found the flag burning in front of a house. One officer pulled down the flag to keep the fire from spreading and the other tracked down the three men. The police said the men admitted to starting the blaze, the newspaper reported. Mr. Anklesaria was identified as a British subject and Mr. Angelopoulos as a citizen of Greece. Mr. Akbar was born in Pakistan and is a naturalized American citizen, the newspaper said. Mr. Akbar is the author of a published memoir, Come Back to Afghanistan, describing his experiences over three summers spent observing reconstruction efforts in Afghanistan and acting as an informal translator for American forces there.

Did they buy carbon offsets?
I’m sorry, and the reason they’re not back in their country of origin is....?
GUILTY!
I’m sure CNN is leading off with this story right?

Yale trio charged in city flag burning incident(foreign Yale students burning American flag)
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1811960/posts
So the headline is misleading. They weren’t arrested for burning a flag, they were arrested for arson, destruction of private property, etc...
Of course. It's The New York Times, after all.
I notice that one of these guys has been an interpreter for our troops in Afghanistan. I think we need to start training our own non-Muslim interpreters, because this isn't the first rotten apple interpreter I've read about, and they are likely to be spying for the enemy.
But not much chance of that. Someone posted an article here a while back saying they are actively recruiting Muslims for West Point scholarships and are proud of their success. Political Correctness run amok.
Were they arrested for “buring the flag”? Or for arson?
I honest-to-goodness think that if we’d hold a couple of Saudi flag burnings, this crap would come to a screeching halt.
These foreign students got in over American citizen applicants no doubt. This needs to stop. If they hate America enough to burn our flag, why are they in an American school?
They are still in jail.
Why is it they can burn our flag and it’s not a hate crime but you burn any other type of flag and it is .......
Here’s how I spell justice...Deportation.
..if the flag hadn't been on private property, it would be a different story.
Put ‘em in boxes and ship them back to their country of origins in the cargo hold of a freighter. Flying is too good for the likes of them.
“The three men, all of foreign origin, were charged with offenses ranging from reckless endangerment to arson ...”
They weren’t charged for burning the flag. Just for endangering because if was flown off of a house! I’m tired of seeing my flag burnt or trappeled (as I witnessed a few weeks ago)! It is against the law to burn foreign flags, so why not ours! Answer: Liberals!
Regarding your tag. Why can’t G-d be a Republican? He’s definitely not a anything else.
Only if a a Saudi is wrapped in the flag first.
For having too big a "carbon footprint" - a new crime invented by the greenies.
They don't like us? They don't like it here? They can return to the land from whence they came. Probably didn't like it either.
Crate 'em up and move 'em out. We gotta have volume, man, volume!
“Crate ‘em up and move ‘em out. We gotta have volume, man, volume!”
Oh, we’ve got the volume alright! Shipping containers aren’t big enough, but they’ll have to do. Back up to the docs, boys! We’re takin’ out the scum!
“It is against the law to burn foreign flags...”
“Who told you that?”
I’ve forgotten now, but I proposed that we do burn a foreign flag at one of our rallies and was told that we can’t do it. Now, that may just be Los Angeles or California law, since this is the Left Coast, but....
No, I don’t think so. But I’ll check again. However, there is the part about not sinking to their level. I keep going back and forth, because part of me says you have to use fire to fight fire. I think they need a good dose of reality of how it feels. What say you?
