You can’t be attacking me for viewpoints that I haven’t inroduced into this discussion.

You've made it clear that you are on the left fringes of the GOP both on this thread and over the past several years.

I'm not getting flack for my viewpoints, I'm getting flack for asking EV to tell me who he supports.

Oh, you're getting flack for your viewpoints too. You've consistantly supported the liberal side of just about everything here ever since I first became aware of you. You're pro-illegal alien and pro-amnesty for criminal invaders. You were for RINO liberal Schwartzenegger in the California Recall Election and attacked conservatives here for supporting conservative Tom McClintock in that election. If you're not going to stand with conservatives and promote conservative causes and candidates, then why don't you just get bent and get lost?

"You've made it clear that you are on the left fringes of the GOP both on this thread and over the past several years."

So, let's discuss my "left fringe" positions, shall we?

State them.

Spiff covered the high-level matters quite well already in post 283. Your pro-illegal shilling is well known, along with promotion of candidates on the left wing of the GOP.

Given what I know about every GOP candidate ACTIVELY seeking the nomination, and coupled with my best guess as to which candidate can defeat the DNC nominee in a general election, I support Rudy Giuliani.

So, just like you supported liberal RINO Arnold Schwartzenegger because, in your twisted liberal mind, he was more 'electable' (and that is ALL that counted) you support Giuliani for precisely the same reasons. Even one year out from the actual beginning of the Primary Election, you've discarded the conservatives in the race and went straight to the most liberal candidate in the race. Your liberalism is so evident and has been exposed by your history here. You put your own perceptions of "electability" ahead of any actual principles. You have no principles - especially not conservative principles. You are no different than any other liberal scum.

"You're pro-illegal alien..."

That's a blatant lie.

"...pro-amnesty for criminal invaders..."

I agreed with Ronald Reagan on that one.

"You were for RINO liberal Schwartzenegger in the California Recall Election..."

I supported the candidate who kept the governorship away from the Democrats, you're right.

"...and attacked conservatives here for supporting conservative Tom McClintock in that election..."

If by "attacked" you meant pointing out the fact that he had no chance to win, I apparently was right.

He did not win.

"If you're not going to stand with conservatives and promote conservative causes and candidates, then why don't you just get bent and get lost?"

In otherwords...if I don't agree with you on some issues, I should leave?

Who died and left you Napoleon?

If the ability to get elected is not important, why are you working so hard at stopping Rudy from being elected?

The left fringes as viewed from the rightwing nutjob wing.

Attacking conservatives as "rightwing nutjobs" is not welcome on a conservative forum. Take your liberalism and your conservative-bashing somewhere else.

Not sure if this has been posted yet- but I always find dropping in at The Corner worthwhile—

Rudy Off Balance [Yuval Levin]

It’s of course hard to say how lasting the effect of Giuliani’s comments about abortion and his understanding of “strict constructionist” this week will be, but judging by the DC social conservative types I’ve talked to in the past 24 hours (some of whom had been quite open to Rudy before) I have to say it looks like this will hurt him quite seriously in those quarters. That was never his constituency, of course, and DC types don’t speak for social conservatives across the country, but as JPod said, Giuliani had been trying to manage a careful game with them to keep them open minded. That game might be ending.

Is that a ploy out of the current Rudy booster handbook? That's about the third time in two days someone has tried that inane gambit.

I guess all your other talking points on FR have been reduced to smoking ruins, so you're reduce to petty personal jabs.

FR is solidly rightwing. If you see us as nutjobs, why do you stay around? To try and do the country a huge favor by dragging the GOP leftward? How has that helped this country?

Giuliani had been trying to manage a careful game with them to keep them open minded. That game might be ending.

His spin simply was incompatible with his history and his core beliefs. Sooner or later, the core comes out, and it wasn't pretty.
