Our reactions to gluten caused malnutrition and malnutrition caused the endocrine system to malfunction in different ways in each of us. Gluten problems also caused our immune systems to go nuts which caused autoimmune peripheral neuropathy in me, hypothyroidism in my mother, dermatitis herpetiformis in my daughter and T1 diabetes in my son. I won't even bother to get into the *rest* of the family. 8-P
I'm sure you can imagine the frustration experienced by the dozen doctors who tried to figure us out.
I am gluten sensitive as well......but it hasn’t caused near the problems you guys have. All my labs are normal.. but grain products give me considerable indigestion, bloating, etc. I just stay away from them as best I can... but it sure is difficult!
thanks.
i’ll check it out.

The durian season is coming up, and (as you know Jim) the fruit hawker streets will be full of $2 to $5 specimens. The odor dominates your nostrils for 1/2 block in either direction.
Is it Singapore Air or Thai Air (or both?) that limits the number of durians you can carry onboard?
The guy who hosts the new Travel Channel show Bizarre Foods literally spit his first bite of durian from his mouth, and this is a guy who regularly eats pigs brains, raw seaworms, and goat eyeballs.
I thought it was an unfair swipe against durian.
I hated durian the first time I tried it, but as you say, it grows on you. Now I actually like it.
Interesting article, especially since I’m soon going to be on dialysis (unless I get a “preemptive” transplant).
I’m also a RN, and can attest to the fact that IV Calcium infiltrates are nasty.
I’ve seen 2 in my career; the first one ended up with amputation of the forearm (the other required numerous skin grafts).
Strange fruit, or mushrooms; asian people are often willing to take risks on little known things. Frequently hear of whole families needing liver transplants from bogus eats.
