Is Fox News Becoming Liberal?
Fox News | 4/6/07

Posted on 04/06/2007 5:22:27 PM PDT by Williams

Two glaring examples tonight:

Fox News about an hour ago breathlessly reported on this new global warming report, and stated straight out that scientists have concluded the World is facing a catastrophe with millions dying of hunger, draught, and disease, and that man IS the cause. Further, they reported that only drastic economic changes can reverse course.

They did NOT present any differing views. They reported all this as fact. Sheperd Smith was anchoring, but I don't think you can only blame the anchor for the news writing and reporting.

At one point they showed a clip of a scientist predicting catastrophe and the screen title referred to a "GreenPeace Report" on global warming. But I believe the main report was based on the latest UN document, so the sudden reference to a Greenpeace report was confusing. They also mentioned that the report should have been worse but the "government" made the scientists tone it down. I think this was a reference to the Chinese government but I don't think Fox specified that. I was shocked they offered no differing opinion.

Then Smith talked about a US government report that concluded the Iraqi government had no formal contact with Al Queda prior to our invasion, based on interviews with former Iraqi officials and other sources. Shepard smith stated, and this was the shocker, that this new report directly contradicted statements to the contrary by Vice President Cheney as recently as yesterday.

I know exactly what Shepard Smith was referring to, because I heard Cheney on Rush Limbaugh yesterday. Cheney said NOTHING about Al Queda working with the Iraqi government.

Cheney said that Zarqawi started out in Afghanistan, then moved his operation to Iraq because we invaded Afghanistan, then was in Iraq and started fighting us there after we invaded. I'm sure Cheney was right. So why the ill informed attack on Cheney by Shepard Smith?

Let's face it, Fox is more tabloid gossip than news channel, but this certainly looked like two examples of the news side behaving like the MSM.

Fox does not appear to be in control of what goes out over the air.

Tonight, the played the same 2 minute piece on painting police cars black and white, back to back two times in a row.

Sometimes FOXNEWS seems like the local public service cable channel.

Is Shepard Smith liberal == YES. Did Shepard Smith stand on the bridge night after night following Katrina lying to the audience about access to New Orleans === Yes. Did he forget to have the camera turn around and show the road was clear of water == YES.

So Shepard Smith is the problem, always has been. The solution, turn him off.

Roger Ailes said at one point that he won’t let global warming “deniers” air their opinions on his station. At least, he ran a “global warming is real and manmade” special, and would allow no refutation at all. I don’t know if they’ve sailed left since then as I’ve not had the channel on after that and Bill O’Reilly’s continual assault on the Swifties.

The short answer is YES!!!!

Earlier today, while doing a news report on the Minutemen, Shepard Smith asked, rhetorically, “just who the hell do these people think they are?”

It’s about time for Fox to make a course correction. First step, fire all fa#$)ts that are pretending to be journalists.

what originally attracted me to Fox was how they would have point/counter point in the news. Really, "we report - you decide". And the fact they presented often the conservative point of view in counter point to the other networks was OK too.

They appear to now be showing just one side to an argument - what ever it is - and that is not fair and balanced, IMHO.

Every time CBSNBCABCCNNMSNBD says something favorable to Bush, the left goes wild that they've sold out. Fox News is a business.

Don't get so upset about this stuff. Sheesh, it's not the GOP despite what the left says or you may have hoped.

Fox is like Bill O’Reilly is like Fox.

Bill used to seem pretty far to the Right, in my view, about 6 yeras ago when I first watched his show.

Now, he pains himself with the “Fair and Balanced” mantra and takes contrarian views on very important issues. It bothers me to see him sell out simply beacuse some lefty’s called him a “right winger”.

It’s being a right winger that got him noticed, and famous, in the first place. Shep has always been a fool, on the other hand.

Too bad for Fox. There motto should be “We not only beat them, we became them”

There are good comments and segments on FOX & Friends and several of the other correspondents.
Neil Cavuto has fair to conservative.
John gibson is Conservative and good segments.
Bret Hume’s hr. is good and many conservative comments, etc.
O’Reilly will have some conservative segments
Hanity & Colmbs has conservative segments.
Greta has interviewed Bush, The Cheney’s, has Newt on often, etc.
There have been good specials explaining the dangers of the IslamOFascists
Good 1 hr special last week exposing Sandy Bergy and the stolen docs.

I know many on FR have given up watching FOX because they don’t have 100% conservative but many then watch liberal MSNBC, CNN and the mononic MSM nightly programming.

Sheperd Smith was anchoring, but I don't think you can only blame the anchor for the news writing and reporting.

I think you can blame Shepherd, it is his producers and writers that are putting his show together and it is his mouth and opinions that are spewing all this liberal garbage every minute he is on the air.

Remember he wanted the CBS anchor chair so badly he could hardly stand it...he would have fit in wonderfully over there.

I can't watch Fox News anymore because it is all tabloid. It started when Chandra Levy disappeared. It was all Chandra all the time right up to 9/11.

After that it was the Holloway girl. Night after night, "no new leads in the case but let's beat it to death again anyway!"

Now it's Anna Nichole Smith.

If I wanted this kind of cr@p I would buy the Equirer.

Okay. But only if you also show the Mariner’s games, and the golf tournaments; shows and movies which show healthy families, with strong, caring father images; and news which give only the facts in items reported with no “slant” or “spin” at all. Include Duncan Hunter in your polls, and mention him when he accomplshes something in Congress. Then, my man, you will make at LEAST 30% per year on your investment.

If Fox started out spending 24 hours a day regurgitating GOP talking points, then yes, I would say they have become libs.

As it is, they never were a mouthpiece for the right wing and they aren’t now a mouthpiece for the loonie left. They may say objectionable things occasionally, but I’ve heard some of the reporterettes say things that would make a moonbat shriek in abject horror.

They may drift left on some programs, but they also drift right on others. If you are offended, blast off an email and express your outrage to FOX. Just know you aren’t the only one who will be demanding FOX parrot your views, those on the left are doing the same thing.

You are correct Fox sometimes expresses conservative views, but mostly on the talk shows. I don't need Fox to parrot my views. I know there are scientists who would not agree with this latest global warming report and I was surprised Fox presented zero opposing opinion. I was especially surprised because the report was one of absolute global catastrophe which is going to happen and requires immediate drastic action.

Second, I know the hit on Cheney was inaccurate. There wasn't even a need to tie in the latest government report and what Cheney said yesterday. They were not related.

There is another major problem here. I don't think Fox has much capability to independently investigate and report the news. The rest of the news report was essentially relying on use of the latest "shocking videos" from around the nation. So their news is reduced to something akin to a local newspaper reading the latest AP headlines.

Shep(hard) Smith, is one of FOX's most liberal (gay) anchors!!!

During Katrina, he was posted on a bridge looking down, all night long, declaring "these poor people are being deserted and left to die" or something to that effect. He never once mentioned that "Party 'n Nagan" was out of town, left buses standing parked, empty until they too were flooded.......

He's a total abomination, almost if not more radical than Geraldo, if that is possible.
