Should be a real winner. They trot out the same apostate priest every Easter to cast doubt on the basic tenents of Christianity.

Eventually, even the meanest intelligence will begin to recognize the same warmed-over stew of heresies stretching back to the 1st century, and begin to realize that there is “nothing new under the sun” when it comes to the various attempts to rationalize away the mysteries of the faith, or to establish an intelligible account of the cosmos without them.

There are better ways to spend Resurrection week than stewing over these perennial attempts to revive gnosticism or some musty version of naturalism that was moldering away by the middle of the 20th century.

Exactly.

I am getting tired of these kind of shows popping up every year.

Just saw Lauren on F&F.

Her description of the special, and especially her description of her feelings when standing at Golgotha, leads me to think that this might not be the usual “here’s why you’re a soft-minded moron” religion special.

‘Sides, I always liked her on Fox and Friends.

“I am getting tired of these kind of shows popping up every year.”

My wife and I covenanted at the time of our marriage in 1968 (six years before we trusted the Lord) to keep TV out of our house, just because of the time-wasting habits it nurtured. We now have a monitor that plays tapes, CD’s, and DVD’s, but have never subscribed to cable or a satellite dish, and have never been regular viewers of network channels. We had a weak moment and watched the Atlanta Braves vs MN Twins World Series some years ago, for “old times sake” (we are MN transplants to the Blue Ridge Mtns) but otherwise were never tempted to get into the “viewing on schedule” habit.

So, we never got bombarded with teasers about these various “did you know NT is mythical?” or “Jesus was a gnostic guru who dropped magic mushrooms!” Easter programs except by seeing comments about them in print media (and now online comments). Looks like we didn’t miss much. Bonus was that, as our kids grew up, they didn’t have any brain washing on what all the garishly colored boxes in the grocery store contained. Might have been detergent or pet food for all they knew, so no whining about “get me this” or “get me that”. Zillions of dollars worth of of kid-propaganda advertising they never saw (except, as they grew up, and wandered around the neighborhood seeing stuff at friends houses). So, no junk toys; all either self-made, or stuff I gave them (like a book on linear algebra applications to computer graphics control and an Apple II to get my oldest son interested in math and programming, and similar stuff for the others, according to their interests). They’ve done OK without all that TV watching.

Same here... and I liked her on that short-lived Cal Thomas show on FNC. Lauren would often play the piano. Cal's show used to be on Saturday nights at 11pm ET. Not sure whatever became of that show... maybe Cal got tired of doing it?

I'm just the messenger here... I run the FoxFan ping list. This is a special that is running on the Fox News Channel, so I am alerting FReepers on my ping list. I really know nothing about the show, other than I've liked Lauren Green in past appearances on FNC.

I probably won't be commenting on the show afterward... I've learned in nearly 7 years' experience at FR not to get involved in any discussions regarding religion...

The BEST gift ever?

Dunno. Probably just wasn’t bringing in the ratings.

I’m with you though, always liked Lauren doing her piano thang. She SEEMS like a really talented, smart, and beautiful woman. She was always my favorite of the ‘Fox and Friends Foxes’.

Heh. I’ll probably watch the special, just cause I miss Lauren!
