That’s a fact, holyscroller. I could always rely on Johnny Hart to write a worthwhile cartoon.

I always loved his comic strips.

R.I.P. and Godspeed Johnny Hart.

This is very sad - I grew up not far from him in Broome County and even have an autographed BC comic hanging by my desk now.

One of his best comics:

CORRECTED HEADLINE:

"BC" and "Wizard of Id" Creator Johnny Hart Goes Home to Be With The Lord Jesus Christ, to Dwell With Him For Eternity.

Mr. Hart, you will be missed... see you soon!

Ironic that he should die right before Easter when he was so good about getting true Christianity into his strip. Which never failed to “offend” his secular extremist newspapers. I thought he was great, and I’m Jewish.

Happy Easter to all my Christian FReeper FRiends! (Stay warm!)

OK, I must admit, I did not like that strip. But the other ones he did, I respected his beliefs.

As the characters would say when they saw something new...

“HART IS GOT WINGS!”

Johnny Hart died, the creator of my two favorite comics on any morning.

I will never forget when Rodney says to the King, “The peasents are revolting.” and the king says, “You can say that again!”

I think he captured the thoughts of many political elites, right there in that cartoon. Where ever you are Johnny Hart, your strips were always revolting. I loved that about you.

One of my favorites is when Sir Rodney comes to a road intersection. He gets off his horse and on one knee offers his sword to whomever is there because the sigh said “Yield”.

Another is when the KING puts Sir Rodney in charge of the castle with the warning over and over that if the Huns attack he is to raise the drawbridge. “The castle will be IMPREGNABLE!”

With the King gone the Huns attack, Sir Rodney yells “Draw the Raisebridge!”
The final panel shows the King receiving a message from Sir Rodney..”The rabbit died.”
And then there is the Spook. Oh too many more! Don’t get me started!

When I come to an intersection with a “YELD” sign and someone is stopped there dawdling, I remember Sir Rodney and used to yell out. Good Grief! The sign says “YIELD”, not “GIVE UP!

Mr. Hart, I loved thee, and cancelled my newspaper subscription when they cancelled you. You were too “devisive.”

See ya later, brother!

R.I.P. Johnny.

"The King is a Fink!"

"ZOT!"

"I hope you're satisfied, Miss Priss. There goes our ride."

NO cheers, unfortunately.

Hope to get to meet up "upstairs."

Too bad. He was a brave man to stand up to the anti-Christians.

Jon Hart was one of the kindest, most brave and dryly funny human beings who those of us here in the Land of the Living have had grace to share air and water. He loved his Lord, and wasn’t ashamed to say it. I’ll bet I bought every paper back he ever reproduced, some over and over, following the long story lines, the love of baseball, the stark but normal backgrounds, usually sporting a volcano. Sometimes silly, other times profound beyond belief. This wasn’t fast food art, and I look forward to some publisher having the guts to reprint his whole collection, and, in any case, I look forward to thanking him and reading the whole collection soon enough. Thanks, Jon. Love you and miss you.
